As I am finally ready to fly a Legion I have been playing around with some fittings.
The purpose of the ship and the safety I want make it kinda crippled. I want to go into 0.0 (Deadspace complexes), do some exploration and solo at least C2 and possibly C3's. That means completely solo them fitted with a prober and salvager to scan them down and take my stuff out.
I want to fit a cloak as well as a interdiction nullifier. And there is the problem. Because of those I lack either low-slots, and/or a hi-slot as well.
Is there anybody who can tell me if what I want is even possible (DPS- and tankwise)?
The fit is as follows:
[Legion, Haitaku] Imperial Navy Heat Sink Corpus B-Type Armor EM Hardener Corpus B-Type Armor Thermic Hardener Corpum B-Type Medium Armor Repairer
Khanid Navy Stasis Webifier Corelum B-Type 10MN Afterburner Imperial Navy Medium Capacitor Booster, Cap Booster 200 Federation Navy Tracking Computer, Optimal Range
Covert Ops Cloaking Device II Salvager I Expanded Probe Launcher I, Core Scanner Probe I Heavy Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Imperial Navy Multifrequency M
Medium Energy Collision Accelerator I Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump I Medium Energy Locus Coordinator I
Legion Offensive - Covert Reconfiguration Legion Electronics - Emergent Locus Analyzer Legion Engineering - Capacitor Regeneration Matrix Legion Defensive - Adaptive Augmenter Legion Propulsion - Interdiction Nullifier
As you might have already seen the damage seems funny to say the least.

when tech III just came out i used the legion covert ops with probes for tackling.. it was very sucessfull however the normal covert ops gets abonus to probing and is a bit more effective..
i used these setups... www.garia.net |

I am not sure what bonusses on CovOps you are refering to, but the Legion does so too. Scanstrength bonus, cloakbonus and probelauncher bonus.
Have you done explorationsites and wormholes with the fits you posted?
And serious......what did you do to get your corpmates to kill a, better said your T3 ship?

More like "Is there any use for a non covert ops T3?".

Cov ops is great for pvp if you choose safety over extra damage/tank. If you live in a WH and use the ship for fleet ops, then you would want to stick to pure tank/dps fits and not bother with cloaking to run away or sneak up on people.
I can only see cov ops being good for solo or as scout going ahead of the fleet as an armored ceptor to pin people down and either kill or hold for rest of fleet to arrive.
With a price tag of roughly half a bil without faction mods though, this may not be the ship I would take to tackle.

Yes the whole point is that I want to solo in it and then mainly exploration. What I worry about is that it might lack DPS when fitted like this. I just don't have a single clue on what a fair amount of DPS is to be able to take down 'biggger' ships in low/nullsec exploration sites.
I am confident that I can do class2 Wormholes with it, keeping in mind it might take a little longer.
More focussed question: Will it be able to deal enough damage to take down C3, 4/10 and possibly 5/10

You won't be able to do both.. Sorry.
Your dps and I say that lightly because even focusing on dps with guns with max skillage and a non cov ip fit with a tank is 400+/- dps.
With a covert interdiction nullified fit you might push 180-200?.
Good luck either way |

my assessment - the covops legion barely out-preforms the pilgrim. reasons?
The tank on the legion is better The dps is about the same legion lacks neuts <- main point the legion can have an expanded probe. <- main point 2
Really, what this means, to me: The pilgrim outpreforms the legion in solo cases -> Cap warfare + drones are more effective than merely lasers. The legion is more effective as a forward scout/tackle. The probe makes it far better then a pilgrim for target acquisition. However, it lacks the ability to finish a fight.
as a basic fit - ignore guns until last. [Legion, lol] 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Armor Thermic Hardener II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Damage Control II
10MN MicroWarpdrive II Warp Scrambler II Stasis Webifier II Sensor Booster II, Scan Resolution
Expanded Probe Launcher I, Combat Scanner Probe I Heavy Pulse Laser II, Multifrequency M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Multifrequency M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Multifrequency M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Multifrequency M Covert Ops Cloaking Device II
Legion Electronics - Emergent Locus Analyzer Legion Engineering - Capacitor Regeneration Matrix Legion Defensive - Augmented Plating Legion Offensive - Covert Reconfiguration Legion Propulsion - Interdiction Nullifier
add rigs to taste. Drop guns if you want more salvagers, etc. OHGODS BELOW THIS LINE IS MY SIG !!!! SRSLY! Blane Xero > Lance is at -0.9 sec status with a 1 million bounty. Lance is also amarrian. Thats 3 evil points |

A laser covert proteus does more damage, with significantly more tank, with a 3point 20km point. A gank fit pilgrim will do something like double the damage of a covert legion, have a similar tank, and cost 1/4 as much for the hull alone.
There is zero practical use for a covert legion.

I think as seen in the responses I jumped on the T3 train without checking where the track leads. I see PvP-wise there is no use for a covert ops Legion more than a Pilgrim.
What I mainly asked if the fit of my Legion is good enough for the purpose I want to use it for (being PvE instead od PvP) with the safety of the cloak and nullifier. Or am I too crippled to do any good with it other than the hi-sec plexes I currently do. Because fair to say my Sacrilege is just as good for that task in Hi-sec.
