Hey guys
I was just working on my Ore Table and especially it's update script, which I extended to fetch prices from every region in New Eden. And what I found out is this: Eve Central doesn't give me any values on mineral prices for nearly half of my queries. This is because there's simply no one contributing data to the site, which is pretty bad and makes carebears cry
So what I want from you is the following: Download the Eve-Central update tool: http://eve-central.com/home/software.html Run it sometimes while mining, and use the "Export to file"-feature of the Eve client on your regional mineral market. The EC-Updater will autmatically upload the market data to it's website and thus help software developers relying on that data developping their software :)
Thanks, and check out my Ore Table! C

The ore market is very competitive, the margins are small, and prices swing quickly. Eve-Central will never have up-to-date ore prices.

Hello,
I see that you are recommending that people install the eve-central tool to upload market orders to eve-central.
Exporting each item to file is carpal tunnel producing and the author of aforementioned tool has made one that does the same job but there is no need for players to export to file all the time. This makes uploading to eve central unbelievably easy. I think all pod pilots should install the new version, there is no excuse, no need to register, no need to do anything, just browse the market like you would do normally.
Contribtastic 2.0 Alpha 3
If you get an invalid path, or nothing is being uploaded
Make sure the ôUsing folder:ö field mentions the ôCachedMethodCallsö folder at the end of the path. On Windows 7/Vista, this is usually at:
Quote: c:\users\yourname\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_(x86)_ccp_eve_tranquility\cache\MachoNet\87.237.38.200\235\CachedMethodCalls (64-bit) or c:\users\yourname\AppData\Local\CCP\EVE\c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility\cache\MachoNet\87.237.38.200\235\CachedMethodCalls (32-bit)
Note: Dominion 1.1 is now 235\CachedMethodCalls - please check and update accordingly
Old version sucks compared to this one =P

I use a Mac, which doesn't support either the DotNet framework, nor Windows-only applications.
I'm still using the uploader. Just tick the box to stop EVE telling you that it's just exported the file like you asked it to, voilß much less clicking involved.
Now if there was a Python, Ruby or Perl version of the libcache stuff, I could probably do something with that.

Curious, but once I run EVE-Central Contribtastic, how do I read files it collects?

Cheating is not the right word. This is journalism if anything. It's not a crime.

cheat? how is this cheating, one of eve's strengths are its abundance of offline and shared online tools that help everyone get an overview...
as for "why wud i update things that im trading" so dont export the damn trades u're using lol, export the ore if your a miner or industrialist so that we always have updated ore / mineral prices, since i doubt people are "trading" minerals, ok some are lol, but still if u're not just upload the friggin prices...
CERLESTES: what u might want to do is check EVE-METRICS, and EVE-CENTRAL, and use the prices that were updated most recently. eve eve-central has freshest data when u poll use them, if eve-metrics has freshest data use them.

Using anything out of the design of a game to increase your overall position is cheating. EVE didn't design it.. the players did. So stating that is what makes EVE great doesn't make sense. It is bad enough that you have to cheat to be good at a game... but to ask help in cheating just adds cargo to the failboat.

CCP doesn't have a problem with it, thus not cheating.
Don't play if you don't like it.

Ah, but they did design it, why else would they have an "export to file" option on market data? They have also said that reading from the cache files is perfectly fine.

So they can be manipulated by anyone that has notepade.exe on their pc. I don't play with eve-central, I know how to use in game mechanics to play for free since day one.

Last I checked you can't use notepad to modify the cache files. Also, I now have one of those annoying sigs.

Wtf are you on about? I can only assume that you are trolling in that case 5/10. If not you must just be insane, calling collecting and assimilating PUBLICLY available market data cheating.

I use eve-central all the time to decide where to sell and also if going into a market it gives an idea of what things are selling for where can also use info to buy one region and sell somewhere else but is not cheating is same as going on pricecheck channel and saying hey what is buy/sell price of exotic dancers where you are at?
