why cant you go back to the days with drop down menu on log in screen wher you just choose tranq or sissi would make it much easier for people to log in to sissi and your current testing for lag would get more people. i have no problem assisting with helping on sissi but when you make so time consuming and diffuct just to log on its not worth my time less you are gonna pay me the 185 Aussie dollars an hr i charge my customers for wsting my time ,make easy = more people = better chances of finding this game ruiming lag you have introdused in last mini patch

TQ and Sisi often run on different code builds, so that would be a challenge.

Tbh, all that they needed to do was automate the Tranq folder copy with a simple install program, have the prog automate shortcut creation and update & download to latest SISI patch level. Simple batch process.
Whether they WANT to do it or if they have something else planned, is another question.

I think they just want people competent enough to use the current format cause it weeds out the bottom of the barrel riff raff.

This. Though installer configuration can be a pain in the ass, it's a one-time-effort that can be automated in future builds and would certainly help in getting those 500 people for their fleet tests.

Which would be total nonsense. You WANT all kinds of different people on a testserver. You DON'T just want the nerds there. They have a tendency to look for completely different issues than "Mr. how-do-I-turn-this-thing-on". - In simplistic terms it has been said that there is enough Zero Point Energy in the volume the size of a coffee cup to boil away EarthÆs oceans. |

People who actually give a damn about fixing large fleet battles are concerned that getting the required numbers of people on Singularity would leave their Tranquility assets unprotected. You don't want to return from the mass testing and discover the enemy blob in the heart of your territory, and be unable to fight it due to the very issue you wanted to help fix.

Logging onto SiSi should be as simple as:
1) A server menu on the login screen 2) Auto-Patch when logging into SiSi 3) ***Auto-Patch back to TQ when going back***

You seem to think sisi is part of your subscription, it isn't.
However getting onto sisi is simple, follow the instructions in the sticky and you will do fine. If the instructions confuse you in any way or you don't understand them, then your ****.

Hi all,
As others have already mentioned in this thread. The test server is not a production server. We use it for testing and we do not guarantee any specific uptime/downtime schedule or support. When it is up, it is up. When it is down, it is down. How to connect to the server is available in this section of the forum. If you know how to get on Singularity, it shouldn't take you more than 10 minutes.

We used to have a drop down menu but it was removed since people kept patching their client and then being unable to connect to Tranquility afterward. People who want to be on the test server should be able to figure out how to get on the test server and people who do not want to be on the test server should not by mistake patch their client and then be unable to get back to Tranquility. That is one of the reasons we removed it.
There is an autopatch available if you connect with a Tranquility client to Singularity. So what you are describing already exists.
Auto patch from Singularity to Tranquility would mean a lot of extra work, since we would have to make new official patches from singularity and test these after uploading them to the public every single time we updated singularity. With the current system, this is not feasible.

I prefer it this way, only people smart enough not to accidentally patch themselves to sisi can play on tranquility :D

Another reason we removed the dropdown was that we needed to have separate settings for each client install, whether it was TQ and SiSi installs or multiple TQ installs. For that the client needed to know during startup which server it was going to connect to so it could locate the correct settings folder.

Here's the reason why you will never get the amount of people on Singularity that you want for your MASS testing.
It's a ****ing PITA to keep up to date.

Correction, there's autopatch for the latest full downloadable version and if you're lucky with the build number, your current Tranq live install.
If you keep your Tranq install up-to-date, like most players do in order to play, most of the time you'll be abit "ahead" in build number to use the autopatch and are left with having to download the latest full vanilla version ( which seems to be the builds you guys create Singularity patches for ).

What.
Patches for tq->sisi have been available nearly always for months now. How the heck can you be beyond sisi with a tq client, when sisi has a higher build number than tq most of the time?
Patching for sisi consists of copying a folder and creating/clicking a shortcut, none of which require any higher knowledge. Heck, there are detailed guides pratically everywhere..on evelopdiea, on this forum..
There's even a patch available right now although the server is in vip mode.. ----------------------------------------------
