So, here I am at work again. Factory floor stuff, three of us on the night shift. No bosses around and they seem to be totally clueless as to what we do as long as we produce something. Sweet gig, right?
Well, it was until the bastards moved me to another machine which I'm neither qualified, motivated or paid to operate. Working there has great slacking potential, but apart from that the job is absolutely ****. Tried negotiating with the ****ers, but unfortunately the only way out is to quit. Not sure if I'm ready to do that (yet).
So, beloved forumites, here's my question: Do I, A. Take a nap. B. Try to find something interesting on the internets (dodgy old computer, IE6, no flash, no sound), or C. Pester my colleagues?

Fat chance.
The prettiest thing here is probably my car, and frankly, that just doesn't do it for me.

On the night shift in IKEA we all play dance tracks and dance around the equipment whilst recording it, tap-dancing on the fork lift trucks etc.

Yeah, taking the forklift for a spin outside crossed my mind... the yard is completely covered in ice/snow and the tires on the forklift are completely worn out. Can be fun, but right now it's just too much effort involved.
Did I mention that this job has made me extremely lazy?

Then just go to sleep. Does your place not have any security cameras?

Not that I know of... Naw, cameras would be too expensive and if we had any they'd be outside. Someone stole a container of aluminium scraps (it's worth more than you might think) a while back, apparently that's the best loot this place has to offer.
Sleep it is then. Thanks.

Late update: Managed to fall asleep on my chair, even with the waterjet (no, not my machine) blasting away right next to me. Didn't exactly make me less tired, but at least it was a nice waste of time.
you should smoke a cigarette as fast as you can, then smoke another one and try to beat that time :p

When I worked at a plastics factory they set a "quota". I usually finished the quota of crap to do for the night by 2-3am and slept until 6. Just to be sure I was up by the time the bosses arrived. :) I also convinced my (now) wife to come visit work about 3 every night....

Luckily there's no quota to be met at my work (at least not for the CNC operators). The bosses might complain if we don't get as much done as they expect, but due to our short production runs and number of things that can go wrong there are plenty of plausible excuses. And since the night staff never actually meet the office morons monkeys dwellers "workers" we tend to stay under the radar even if they're unhappy.
Thankfully I'm halfway through the week and back home now.

hey good idea, you can also film yourselves dancing around and post it up on YouTube like this then you'll have girls flocking to your workplace from all over the town
sans that buy yourself a foreign language dictionary and start learning another language who knows one day you wake up after a rough night, open your eyes and discover that you're in Mexico or China so that knowledge of Spanish or Mandarin will come in very useful

That's basically the kind of place I'm at, I even work with a machine like the one he starts out at (4 propane torches). A little more spacious and brighter, but apart from that... Thanks for taking me back to work already, *******!
Anyway, me dancing around like that would be quite a sight indeed...
Finally, while I hate my job I don't really want to get fired or anything (unless that anything means returning to my lasers), I just don't want to keep it either. So I'll just go on working at a very gentle pace and let my boss make the next move.
