When I was still brand new I was told the only way to make bpc's was in a POS. I have of course have learned that this is not true, you can do research on stations that have the facilities. However it has come to my attention that even the lowsec labs have a huge waiting list. I think what the person whom I have long forgotten was saying is "You need a POS (access to one) to actually make good money with BPO's".
What is the best way to get to a research or copy facility with no monster wait?

The best way to get to a research or copy facility with no monster wait is to...
*drum roll*
deploy your own labs at your own POS...

There's still 0.0 NPC stations, but nowadays empty slots are starting to become few even out there. ----- 'In Eve, as in real life, if you are bored it's your own fault.' |

There are stations in lowsec with no waiting list for copy slots, you just have to go looking for them, and then fly 12 jumps through low sec, which isn't a problem I just took a low skill alt through that without a hitch. You can also look in providence/northern catch there are quite a few stations that are owned by CVA and friends and they frequently have empty lab slots. Generally the closer to hi-sec the more waiting you have to do.

Other than deploying your own POS, you can also contract with someone to provide you copies or find someone who will let you join their corp to use their POS for copying.

like the other guy said, get your own.
put up a pos in hisec and get labs and advanced labs of your own.
while there are many issues (wardecs, standings, fuel costs) it is entirely doable, i know several people who run their own small corp research pos's.
while they arent cheap for the individual person to start up (i guess it depends on your definition of expensive) figure 100 for the small tower 90 per lab 150 per advanced lab
and 10-25 for fuel per month
not terrible but sometimes annoying, if your solo make yourself a corp and do missions to get standings, a single person can get the standings needed pretty quickly if they try at it

What server do you play on? Isotopes alone for a small tower run around 35 million.

Fuel costs for a small tower are around 2 mil/day. So, about 60 mil/month. ----- 'In Eve, as in real life, if you are bored it's your own fault.' |

Looks like I need some sort of primer or guide to accomplish this, if anyone has a link that would be swell. I know about the missioning sites and the mining sites, guess I need to know about the Industry ones. I appreciate the help.

Interesting, my medium faction tower costs about 30-35mil to fuel every two weeks. Seeing as how a medium consumes twice as much as a small...

Edited by: Sarina Berghil on 21/02/2010 12:32:35 Best option is to buy BPCs.
They are often for sale as contracts at extemely low prices, with huge research levels. There's no way you can make them cheaper yourself.
Downside is that there is usually not a big variety for sale, but you could try contacting some of the sellers, advertise in the BP trade channel, or put up a want add on this forum.
You save a lot of work, save cash on better blueprints, and most importantly you get market flexibility by not investing a lot of money and time in a single BPO.

You might want to start with Kazua Ishiguro's guide to POS labs? There's also a IGB POS calculator to help you figure out fuel costs for various POS configurations.
Here's a fancy guide to The Mystery of ME, PE and Perfect ME.
And last but not least, Grand Commander 13's (outdated but still useful) Science and Industry Guide. [Aussie players: join channels ANZAC or AUSSIES] |

I don't know if you've noticed... But Providence is a huge war zone right now...

I see, you can have a lab in hisec, you anchor it like a gsc. You just have to buy the lab and fuel, have the proper skills. Thanks a lot, I'll look into it further.

Interesting considering that faction towers use a lot less fuel than normal towers
Standard towers run, on average, around 50, 100, 200 mil per month (depending on price). Faction towers run about 75% less than standard. 60-70 mil a month for your faction tower is about right if you are getting a good price for your fuel.
