The size of the Orca and Rorqual justify the introduction of Medium and Heavy mining drones.
I think scount size mining drones at max skills equate to near 1/4 to 1/3 of an MSM 2.
I would like to see Medium size mining drones being the equivalent of 1+ strip miner, Large size drones being the equivalent of close to 2+ strip miners. Fighter size mining drones would be the equivalent of perhaps as much as 1 strip miner per fighter sized mining drone.
Why such large volumes ? Specifically for the Rorqual it would bring an incentive to put the ship at risk in the roid belts.
Putting scout size mining drones on an Orca feels like welding a garden spade at the end of a dumper truck. Lets see the dumper truck with a sc****r on the front and let the ship be an industrial ship rather than just a logistics ship.

while im aware that your main arguement is for higher classes of mining drones (if it lowers ships prices by increasing mineral volume im all for it as i do not mine), the orca and rorqual are not meant to be mining ships
They were designed to be miner SUPPORT vessels, giving bonuses, hauling ore, and (with a rorqual) compacting that ore

Cammand ships support battle fleets, yet I see they field an array of guns.
Both from the hardcore up front leadership vessels to the back ground hardcore leadership vessels.
I dont see the same principle being adopted with these industrial ships. They should be as sensible as their commandship cousins and actually partake in the operation they are involved with directly.
The yeild would not be that great for an Orca with say medium sized drones. Where as the Rorqual would be sizeable, probably out stripping a Hulk, putting the ship at risk and boosting 0.0 profits.
Yes the Rorquals compressing of ORE is a nice feature but having a ship sitting at a POS 24hrs does not make it a ship more of an occupied POS structure.

they are partaking in the activity by holding large amounts of ore, acting as both a hauler and bonus giver
even with fighter style mining drones, if i owned a rorqual i would still not endanger it by moving it to a belt... that just wouldnt be very good 0.0 sense what with kill hungry gangs roaming about all the time
as a 0.0 pvper, finding a rorqual in a belt would not take long, and a rorqual can take forever to align and warp. Such a kill would be the envy of pvpers all over, and once you caught it, people would Rush to get on that killmail
regular command ships are designed to pvp, so they have guns and tanks so they can compete with other pvp setups
indy command ships were designed to move large volumes of ore and give bonuses while doing that
also, look at the category of industrial ships, they are the haulers, add command and you get haulers that give out bonuses
Industrial command ships: haul and give bonuses Regular command ships: fight and give bonuses
p.s. im not denouncing larger mining drones, with work they could be useful

I agree with you in part industrial ships are great haulers and a great boost to the fleet of mining ships, from this point of view the ships are a great success.
But I like game play, mining is dead boring but flying an Orca is just sit there and do nothing other than haul every so often.
I cant speak for a Rorqual pilot as I have never used one, but sitting at a POS is even losing the hauling part of the game play.
This is my point about trying to get the Rorqual into the belts. Sure it will be a PvP target and perhaps needs a few more teeth. But lets please see more game play and more fun.

No.
Theses ships are industrial and help miners but are not, by design, suppose to be use as mining vessel.
They would otherwise be use by macrominer
Imagine 0.0 mining rorqual that would just have to jump out or logout when someone appear on local
So no no and more no.
It's an mmorpg and you need some friend in Mining vessel to mining and some others in industrail to give bonuses but should not be able to do both.
These being say I would liek to be able to mine more myself :)
