right.... so when we crash and die due to this bug, will CCP re-imburse us for our loss, or tell us that it is on your side and not theirs.....
i was lucky that my ship made it out in structure.

So what makes you think it's NOT on your side exactly?
Not like the server decides to boot you off if you see a t3 ship :p ------------------------- I'm not shirtless damnit! |

The logs must show something for CCP to be able to do anything. There are a whole lot of things that CCP have no control over, such as your computer, your ISP, your drunk mate spilling beer on the router, etc. They can't do anything without evidence or they will be swamped with petitions from people who, when realising they will die in a fight, turn their router off and then demand reimbursement. -------------------------------------------------

It's a new weapon IT Alliance is working on. They first tried a mobile lag storm generator against the North, and that failed. Now they are creating a whole new weapon that will crash their enemies clients, and it can only be fitted on a T3 ship.

if it becomes a known issue then there is a chance you will get reimbursed.

T3 ships use a custom shader that is different from all the other ships in the game and might effect certain graphics cards and drivers to the point they crash the client. At least that was the case when t3 ships were crashing people on the test server when they first came out.

So you saw a T3 ship on scan, and did a log-off manuever which saved your ship... What's the problem again?

no, but they should show a t3 ship did enter the grid. although since there is a limited scope of the crashing problem it might not be eligible for reimbursement.

If you even hint that the loss occurred in relation to PvP interaction, your petition will be denied.
Say you were ratting and the client crashed. GMs rarely actually check the logs (that's why they seldom find anything). But if you say PvP, they don't need to check the logs, as PvP losses are never reimbursed for any reason.

Theres nothing to find. All the server sees when you DC for any reason is your client no longer responding. There is no way to tell any difference between a willing log off or an A-bomb destroying your house. Other then breaking news reports on CNN for the bomb that is. Thats odd since I have had pvp related loses reimbursed. It all depends on the circumstances. Having a complete understanding of how game mechanics are supposed to work and the ability to explain a situation clearly is very helpful as well.

Probably what Zeba say.
So you need to: - get a friend with a T3 ship - activate logserver - log in game with logserver running and have the T3 ship enter and leave grid for the guys that crashed - crash and log the logserver data - send a bug report to CCP for all the people involved with the logserver data nad you PC data - then maybe CCP will find the problem with your graphic card and fix it
Probably you will still not receive your losses back, but at least you will not suffer from this problem again.

Edited by: NightmareX on 05/03/2010 01:19:06 Well, i had a similar problem earlier. But this was when i entered a grid that had Gallente POS'es in. Then i crashed right away.
And the strange thing here was that i couldn't even log back in after that happened. Right after i got to Entering game as....... then i crashed to desktop again.
So, i just tried with the Safe Mode client. And i could get back in to the game, and i could even enter the grid with the Gallente POS without crashing.
The reason for that was because i have written LUA:OFF in my shurtcut to EVE Online, and that makes the client store the settings and cache files in the main EVE folder.
And when i run EVE directly from the Safe Mode exe file in the EVE folder, it wont use the LUA:OFF thing. So the settings and cache files will then it will go into the C:\Users\Your Username\.............. folder.
So by that, i know it was something with my settings files. So i moved one by one of the settings files to another folder and ran EVE again for each setting file i had moved out of the settings folder.
And the end results was that i found one settings file to be corrupted, so i just removed that one and everything was working perfectly after that.
So i have to ask, have you cleared your cache folder and eventually checked that there isn't any corrupt setting files?.

my settings are all default, whatever the client installed on my computer.. the only difference is in the graphic settings..
well it only happened the one time, but still fairly annoying to log in and see that gate guns have taken me down to structure..
by the way the t3 ship was on my side and was joining me.

I wouldn't say that this is an entirely isolated incident.
Not experienced it myself but would certainly be worth filing a bug report, it seems
The funny thing about this sentence is that by the time you've finished reading it, it's too late for you to realise it doesn't say anything. |

To be honest I really do not have the time to do that.. making a 2 minute post is one thing, but going through all that trouble is a hassle for me..... i just wanted to inform those who didn't know about it, and maybe someone else will be able to be able to further go through the issue..
