Hey just a random Q.... Like many noobs I started this game without knowing anyone or what the hell I was supposed to be doing. However about a week into playing I ended up chatting to someone in mining chat. Two mins later i'm flying all my worldly belongings down to deep null sec, after joining a null sec corp. Fast forward 1 month and ive got over 2 bill ISK, multiple drake's/ noctis' and soon about to get my first Navy issue raven.
All after 1.5 months of playing....
Am I very lucky or does this happen to most people?

I don't know about your specific circumstance, but it is definitely possible to make a few billion ISK in your first month.
I managed ti do it through mainly trading. It did cost me several PLEX to start up shop, but I quickly doubled my initial investment and bought Navy issued ships with faction/deadspace modules installed and x05 implants. Since buying most of the apparel items (working on completing my FW shirt collection) I have just been piling up my ISK and debating weather it is worth investing in PLEX which seem a bit high at the moment.
I think it depends on how often you play. I am on EVE for many hours a day, and I think those 3-4 months before making enough for PLEX is quoted to those more casual gamers and people who are not focused on making ISK. I have heard stories of other relatively new players also making a good amount of money with FW (legitimately) and salvaging missions in their first month. |

So you just made money by watching the markets and buying low and selling high?
I just follow a load of professional ratters that rat most of the day in carriers. Who then very kindly leave all the mods and salvage to me ( and occassionaly a domination spawn :D)
Off topic, but what's the allure of buying the clothing and apparel?
I havnt been to my captains quarters since the start of the game, am I missing out on something? lol |

Yes, watching the trends on the market history graph in the Forge works well. Working on my Industrial 5 skill now, with goals of getting a blockade runner soon. I come from playing games like The Sims, and those Syd Meyer games, so trading and clothes are natural for me. I think there comes a point where you also run out of things to buy (which is a good thing and keeps this from being pay-to-win) and ridiculously expensive clothes become an option. This was the case for Guild Wars I where it was also easy to afford good gear, and everything after that was cosmetic. |

Its extremely easy to make alot of ISK if you have the patience and/or willingness to do it.
When I find myself bored my wallet just goes up and up until something more interesting comes along. It all depends on the person and the situation. |

You have basically done what every new player should do, Get into a good corp. I think it's a little bit of luck and probably more that you have the right attitude and listen and learn.

Sir roderic. Well done.
Im guessing in RL your a mature person pretty good a reading other people and know what it takes for a good organization to run.
All those life skills helped you locate a good corp. That probably and a good attitude, and proactivity.

It depends how you play. If you take the game more seriously, play a lot, have a lot of advice, and a bit of luck, absolutely you can make a killing even in your first couple months. A few billion is well beyond the average though. In fact, I didn't hit a billion until 6 months in. But then I am mostly a solo player, which is going against the grain in this game, without a doubt. By joining a corporation, any corporation, you massively boosted your potential. Personally, I find this too boring, too easy I suppose. But I am odd like that.
Being in null sec in what I assume is a fairly established corporation is likely the largest factor of your success. If you have safety in null sec, especially as a miner, you can make a fortune. Just wait until you can fly really good mining ships. |

You were lucky as far as serendipity applies. But another player could achieve this by actively searching for a good corp. Sometimes you just stumble on good people. Then the butterfly effect video is pretty accurate. The rest is all what you put into it.
