If you can probe, and if you can fly a cloaking ship . . . you have just stumbled onto an offer like no other in EVE Online.
Long story short, my gang of PVPÆers like to pew pew, and part of what we like to do involves wormholes. However probing on a daily basis becomes monotonous to anti-social sociopaths such as ourselves
Our Solution However, Will Profit A Lone Prober Like YOU Immensely . . .
For every wormhole YOU probe down that results in us scoring kills, we will hand over the loot of that kill to YOU. Yes YOU. Maximum ISK cap is 100M (meaning that if the pirate booty ends up being worth more then 100M ISK, the rest of it will go to the PVPæers that made the kill)
Your Job Is Simple And Will Go Like This:
Step 1.) You locate a wormhole. Step 2.) You identify potential targets in space (not just sitting inside of a POS shield) Step 3.) You inform one of our FCÆs in a private channel what you have found. Step 4.) You provide us with bookmarks for both the wormhole and the targets
Step 5.) YOU profit.
Best part about this is that you can stay inside of your present corp (or even an NPC corp) All we want is your leet probing/cloaking skill
I will reiterate that the maximum ISK profit for you (per wormhole) will be 100M ISK. If the loot exceeds 100M, then everything else will go to the PVPÆers that made the actual kill.
At this moment we are looking for 4 good probers, who are willing to perform this role regularly to support our PVP habits.

Edited by: Eternum Praetorian on 11/03/2010 00:28:00 Ok let me be clear on this . . .
I represent more then one corporation interested in engaging in Wormhole PVP on a regular basis, and EVERYONE has agreed to the terms stated above.
Now, if you compare the benefits of us developing an on going relationship with a select group of dedicated probers VS simply ganking the **** out of a solo pilot inside of a 20M ISK covert opts frigate ---- well there really is no comparison is there?
This is not a scam, it is a legit offer.

Eternum: "can you get close to the targets and we'll warp to you?"
Prober: "sure I'm at 15 km now"
Eternum: "accept our fleet invite"
Eternum in vent: "Primary is the located targets , I will warp to prober , de-cloak him and tackle him myself. Hardners on and align boys..."

He's only after bookmarks, so it would work like this: you probe down something interesting, bookmark it. Head to the station nearest the wormhole, contract bookmarks for WH (k-space and w-space side) and locations of targets.
The only risk would be the PvPers making kills and not sending you any rewards. You as the prober get to stay in the safety of an NPC station in k-space while there are trigger-happy PvPers about :)

The prober risk not getting payed. The gang risk warping into a bait drake and 8 cloaked hic's.
Both can be solved with a bit of trust and mutual benefit. I'd say it's worth the risk for some pew, most of the time it will be fine.

Sounds legit but the only problem I see (besides the possibility of not being paid) is your asking for targets in WH space as well. Probing for targets in WH space and relaying that information to your corp takes time, and that would be enough of a delay for any WH explorer worth their salt to escape (providing they're spamming the d-scanner for combat probes).

I hate to break it to you but with any decent prober you first you'll see the probes is when their gang is already either ready to jump in or inside already off dscan. Only inexperienced combat probers drop probes and spend forever narrowing them down...
As for the OPs idea - this is already being done in game, ask around.
Also fundamentally the whole "bookmark for target" idea is pretty flawed. Fair enough giving out bookmarks for an entry WH which has people running a site, but bookmarks for ships is pretty dumb. The chances of those ships being anywhere near those bookmarks by the time you get there is slim.

For little effort it would not be hard to find out. It's the sort of scam that would only work once for a modest benefit to the scammer.

All it takes is one poster who lost a probe ship to ruin it for them...probing is rather cheap affair to get going with, right?
Seems like a cool arrangement to me. The OP wants all the fun of PVP without the tedium, and is willing to give up spoils for it.
Too bad the time's wrong for me.

TBH, they leave for about 15/20 Min which gives the prober just enough time to throw the contract up, return to where the target just was, and sit there cloaked. Which of coarse provides us with an instant warp-in right on top of them
Now, I posted in this section of the forums because this is were probers and plexers like to converse. These tactics work just fine -- last night our new prober nabbed a Drake (it was a slow night yes, but he did get the loot.).
If you have never been involved in this kind of pirating before, do not make assumptions on what works and what does not, because you simply cannot possibly know what you are talking about. For starters people mining and running sleepers inside of wormholes get lazy, realistically they are not ALWAYS sitting on their directional (everyone makes mistakes) and if you are in the right place at the right time, you can profit from those mistakes.
Best haul to date, was a fully faction/complex fitted CNR that fell out of an abandoned large POS (Valued at 11B ISK give or take)
We now have 2 probers and are looking for at least 2 more

To locate a drake you wasted what - 20-30ish minutes? That's assuming the target doesn't check directional and doesn't see your probes and doesn't gtfo before you can get your little buddies.
And you got - what- about 10mil of t2 loot? Assuming the full fit costs 20 mil and half got destroyed.
On the other hand I open up the mission efficiency report thread , 4-5 down from this one.... hmm damsel 32mil. I finish that in 5-10 minutes- from accepting to docking. Loot and salvage for another 10. So I just made 3x what you did in less time in high security.
Total carebear ? Still - killing a drake doesn't strike me as epic pvp.
And piracy while being there to make the game more interesting for carebears is not my cup of tea. I Suppose somebody has to do it though. Shoot the poor farmers to teach them expensive lessons. Oh yeah SP is not the only skills you need to have in eve

IF u spend alot of time scaning IF u finnaly find a target IF he dosent see ur probes on directional and leave IF u transmit the bookmark fast enought IF the gang reaches the target fast enought IF it isn't a trap IF ur lucky to get any loot worth anything IF ur not beeing scammed
THEN u get ur reward ... waaa ... i dont know about u but i think its a waste of time

Wow. Are you seriously that lazy that you can't spend 10 minutes to get your own kills?
The isk/hr ratio you're giving to the scanners is absolutely horrid. I've got the scanning skills to do what you want, but there's about 5 different things I could do right now that'd make more isk, without risk of you backing out on your end.
(Those 5 things: anomalies, radar, magnometric, ladar, and gravimetric. Gotta love wormhole space.)
Scanning takes five minutes per target, but you're willing to spend thirty minutes heading to some random location, grabbing bookmarks, and flying to a spot that's probably empty? Pretty pathetic, really.

In a word yes. Do you know someplace else where tech 3 ships like to play? Also this isnt ISK per hour, this is just "hey today I happened to find a wormhole and there are things in it to kill" There are no expectations beyond that simple deed (besides giving us bookmarks and a warp in to target)
Also . . . I really don't understand the fear Is putting a covert opts frig on the line in exchange for possible faction drops off of tech 3 ships really such a big deal? I mean, 2 weeks ago an Orca went pop and dropped a cosmic **** ton of ABC ore that (do to our laziness ) we were not about to try and haul back to empire. If we had non-corp probers at the time, it would have been all theirs to do what they wanted with (ISK value, I really have no clue.)
Picture if you will a world where this is a legit offer. Pirating in wormholes is FUN and it gives up the best pirate booty in the universe Probing daily however, royally sucks. End of discussion.
So troll away, there are actually people out there whom are interested in this. 3 spots are potentially filled and we are still looking for a forth.
