So I recently started playing a day or so ago, ran some missions, did some mining, I enjoyed it all. Today, however, I was in the mood for something a little more exciting and decided to make up my own mission. I decided - mostly as a challenge - to see how far in space I could get before getting killed.
Now, I understood that this mission would entail losing a ship, so I created an alt just for this purpose. Random character, free starter ship, no real loss. I can say I was pretty excited and a little paranoid for the first 15 jumps, especially as I left highsec and went into lowsec, as I was told people are usually waiting at the gates to gank incoming ships. "Bring it on!" I thought, that was my mission.
Anyway after about 40 jumps with little sign of life, most in low and nullsec, I was getting rather bored. I was told that Delve space was very hostile and could head there. I Well after about an hour of bouncing around Delve space with no excitement I docked at some random corporation's station and logged off. Maybe tomorrows trip back to highsec will be more exciting.
Although I didn't actually complete my mission and it was rather boring, I did at least learn how to fly a route without using autopilot. I also saw some player wreckage and several warp field disruptor bubbles, and flew through each one just to see what would happen.
So, is nullsec normally this boring? |

Not particularly. I've been told you can't make it through lowsec gates due to gate camping, and was pretty much challenged to see for myself. I was just expecting a bit more hostility. It's all for fun anyway. |

alot of 0.0 is pretty lifeless, the choke points is where your more likely to come across camps, One of the first things I did in EVE was to do a 100 jump route all through 0.0 (goonspace,BOB space etc) and apart from a couple of systems most of the time the systems were empty.
Unfortunately repeated nerfs to 0.0 have made alot of the systems worthless and not really worth renting. God Said "Come Forth and receive eternal life!"-á I came second and won a toaster. |

In low sec your ship may not be worth the sec hit for the locals to come kill you. When we are roaming we let tons of ti.y neutral ships go without looking at them twice.
Null is hit or miss. Also, many null alliances are rather busy atm. As for NPC null people do live out there, sure. It's also the weekend and Sunday night is often a quiet night I've found. |

Not to mention the current war in Delve, that might be concentrating most nullsec players in this region these days.
I did a trip to low/null in my early days, hardly saw anyone in low, but the second jump in null I ended in a warp bubble and got podded back to highsec. Further visits in low were just similar, hardly any life sighting. Only time I got in null since, was when we had a K162 to NC sov space, but the nearby systems were mostly empty. I recently auto piloted through 49 jumps in nullsec and came across a total of less than 20 people in local. It's said that only about 15% of eves population live in nullsec. The vast majority live in highsec.
There's plenty of valid reasons for this, but that just means nullsec is very empty. If you can sneak a ratting ship out there, you could make some decent money. You wouldn't complain about needles when you get a tattoo. So why would you complain about PvP when you play EVE? |

Are there any places in null sec to dock? Or do you just fly back to empire space to dock when you are done? |

It is boring in lowsec. I too Wonder where all the action is? Why can't I find anyone to blow me up as well? Even when I look for trouble.

There are, but who is or is not allowed to dock is set by the alliance that owns the system. There are also NPC-owned 0.0 regions (Curse, Stain, Outer Ring, Venal and parts of Delve, Fountain and Cloud Ring) where anyone can dock in the stations, which are more friendly to visitors (and pirates and raiders).

NPC null-sec has NPC stations. So yo can dock there. They are exactly the same as high-sec stations. Inject your skillbook before you leave the station. That depends.
NPC owned station = Dockable
Player owned outpost = Depends if the owner lets you dock. Inject your skillbook before you leave the station. Neo didnGÇÖt learn Kung-Fu by having it sit in his usb drive.-á If it moves, shoot it. Sometimes. Sometimes not. If you thought that every single gate would be camped, well that's logistically and motivationally impossible. A single gate camp for every 50 gates is a lot to people who don't have a death wish.
In other words, there are plenty, but it depends on the time you're playing and luck, in general.
If you really want to get yourself killed, open the star map, filter by security status and how many people are active in the system. Go to the null sec systems with 30 + people, and enjoy the fireworks.
Trust me, it's far more exciting to try and survive in null sec when you are risking something of value, and have an actual purpose for being out there (ratting, exploring, pvp, etc..) |

Most of those 49 jumps did not have a station in the system. They're expensive to set up and can be taken over by an opposing player force. It's often easier and cheaper to take someone else's station than pay for one themselves.

Wrong again
Player owned station = outpost = on your overview unless YOU disable it.
Player owned STRUCTURES aka POS need to be probed down. But a POS you can't dock at, not even if you are the owner. All you can do is sit inside the forcefield which isn't called Docking.
Get your terms right before speaking on New Player forums, makes it even more confusing for them. Really, 2009 character that doesn't knows the difference.
