Use wine, works perfectly, see the Linux forum section, ingame channel "Linux" winehq, bugzilla, etc. Also google is your friend. --------------------------- Only those who surrender are lost |

Magus got to it before I could.

There never was a native Linux version in the first place. They had some winex support, but that's about it. - In simplistic terms it has been said that there is enough Zero Point Energy in the volume the size of a coffee cup to boil away EarthÆs oceans. |

Doesn't change the fact that wine does not work perfectly every time, and when it does not, the EVE forums are no help.

The same is true for every situation.

Common problems I have on wine:
EVE Locks up before the splash screen. EVE Locks up on the splash screen. EVE Locks up on entering space. Picture is out of sync with monitor and 'breaks in half' when panning around fast. This is especially visible when panning past on bright planets. Various minor graphics issues. Running two clients gives really bad frame rates. When running two clients sometimes only one client accepts keyboard input. Client freezes occasionally for a couple of seconds. Generally worse FPS and higher CPU use than on windows (to be expected, I guess..).
And no fraps.. :( (There are tools that do what fraps does, but the usability is way behind.)
So it's really a bumpy ride and I probably going back to using windows for gaming and general use and only booting linux for KDEnlive.

That's why we have winehq, bugzilla, the ingame channel, google, and, after all, common sense.
Seriously, I've been playing eve on GNU/Linux for over three years now over at least six different distros, across a ton of wine and kernel versions, on both Nvidia and Ati graphics cards, and I've never had any trouble with it that I couldn't solve after querying the sources listed above. --------------------------- Only those who surrender are lost |
