Edited by: Alpha Spinecone on 13/03/2010 12:08:20 Edited by: Alpha Spinecone on 13/03/2010 11:57:32 I plan to use it mainly as a missile boat, and I currently have 2 medium lasers (one of the ones with the long needlessly complex name to show they are slightly better than normal ones)
I know caldari use rails, but the ferox has no bonus to them, at least not ones I saw.
So, can anyone recommend some mids and lows?
Edit: Just noticed it does have bonuses to railgun range.
Meh, last time i used cruiser rails, I coulda done more damage throwing rocks at them.

Because they're fast with cap-free weapons, generous fitting and a good slot layout. They just have no glaring bad points, unlike for example the Punisher. It has a better tank than the Rifter but one less mid makes it a lot less versatile. _________________________________

Edited by: Kery Nysell on 13/03/2010 12:32:28 If you want a missile based Caldari BC, use a Drake.
But, as a way to raise ISKies for a Drake, I could somewhat see a Ferox with as many Heavy Launchers as possible ... or sell the Ferox and do some level 2 or 3 missions in a Caracal with heavies ... <~ sig starts here

The others might do one thing better but the rifter is the best total package.
It's a nice versatile hull.
Hmmm. If you're really stuck with a ferox I'd say just passive shield tank it like the above drake fits.
You want at least two large shield extenders, two SPRs and if you can afford it, purgers. Rest of mids should be mission specific hardeners. Rest of lows should be Ballistic Control Units and highs should be missile launchers.
I don't recommend flying a ship you can't afford to lose though (if you can't afford a drake, you can't afford to lose a ferox).

Firstly, you would be better off in a Drake.
That being said, you can make your Ferox work for now by fitting it similar to the Drake setup (PVE) in Dutchess Starbuckington's post above. Assuming poor skills, you may have to use PDU instead of BCS.
Grind quickly so you can get a Drake.

It really stesses me out that the drake is insanely awesome and the ferox is looked down upon. I know it's not as bad as most people say it is but there is nothing that it can do that the drake can't do just as well or even better.
Hopefully some change to rail/blaster modules/boats will help even things out a little between the 2 BCs. Like drake is the tank boat and a blaster ferox is the gank boat. Or make the ferox more appealing as a poor mans command ship....?

Thats the one role the Drake cannot play. Ferox is an usable and above all cheap sniper. When rails get fixed some day the Ferox will begin to shine imo. -

EM Missiles on Ferox are the same as EM missiles on Drake. Add two lasers, they look really cool. Or neuts, Ferox can actually fit that.
Sure it lacks slots and base stats and really only has the resists as bonus but it kinda works. Nice attempt at troll but I prefer to troll hardcore and fly it.

How about giving the ferox another low slot and enough grid to fit 250s! This would give good rail damage and range with a combo of mags and TEs with higher damage ammo for PvE (more CPU needed). You wouldn't need to change the ship bonus at all either as it would be a more viable mission rail platform at the BC level.

use two primary and one secondary hardener as the mission requires. stick with level 3's as you'll probably be able to make more isk doing them rapidly, than trying level 4's with the low damage output of this ship.
the upside of ferox is you can tractor and salvage as you go along, the skills you'll be training all apply to drake as well, and of course when you can afford a drake most of the modules will drop right onto it.

Or just use some sort of frigate for that.
