I hope you could answer a question for me regarding jump freighters. I live in Amarr space and i am close to the Amarr capital but i have never seen a T2 Ark Jump freighter.
From what i know of T2 production you need a a lot of items including datacores and then the original T1 ship which would be a Providence. You start the invention but if it fails you lose everything including the T1 ship.
So if a normal frigate costing 50k can be worth 300 mil as a T2 ship then how much would an Ark be seeing as it is based on a 700 mil ship. .
Second is the risk of losing a 700 mil T1 ship on a gamble to much of a risk to take
I know that Titans are the most expensive ships in the game but are T2 Jump freighters sitting with them. With a Titan you know that it will be built if you invest enough resources but trying to creat an Arc could leave you out of pocket for with nothing.
Are the many arcs in the game or are they unheard of
Many thanks for your valuable answers

i think theres differences on jump freighters just as in t1 freighters. Most freighter pilots traing to fly freighter that has biggest cargo space witch happens to be caldari charon. Natural direction after that is jump freighter of same race.
Base ship is just added cost of manufacturing, it dosent directly hint anything about final price witch finnished product sells on market, or even if there is enough sales volume for finished item. What you need to do is take a look what does ark need. and do little market research if they are worth effort for you to manufacture. number crunching.

you never use a base t1 item with invention. it adds nothing to your chances, only named up to meta 4 gives an improvement.
out of interest what frigate is worth 300m?
as for the reason you don't see many of em.
JF cargo is significantly smaller than a regular freighter. so most of us use the t1 to move cargo and transfer to the jf for the dangerous portion of the trip.

Using a T1 ship as a base item in invention gains you nothing, they are Meta 0 items, and as such add nothing but unnecessary cost. If you've been doing this, stop it, you're throwing your ISK away.
The reason Jump Freighers are rare in high sec is that it takes (using rough numbers) anywhere from 2.5-4B in advanced moon materials for the T2 components, then the 500-900M for the base freighter to build the thing. Add the cost of a Freighter BPC, 128 datacores, and a decryptor (you'd be silly not to) for each invention attempt.
All in all, not a chunk of ISK that you spend on a ship unless you have compelling need. Not to mention that thehy have a fraction of the cargo space of their T1 versions.

A jump freighter is only really useful as an expediant way to transfer things around lowsec/0.0 and minimizes the need for the dreaded 'freighter runs' that 0.0 entities had to do from time to time.
The problem with jump freighters is that they take the capital T2 componant BPO's and if I remember correctly when looking at them the copy times on them were stupid long so you will not find BPC's sitting on the market. So to get one you either need to suck it up and keep 5 Bill in your wallet to buy one, or if you are patently incapable of ever having more than 1 billion in liquid isk like I am you need to build them yourself. This means buying the T2 componant BPC's getting a jump freighter BPC, researching the componant BPOs (roughly 2 weeks + each BPO) and making each of the parts. In the end I fully expect to spend 4-5 bill though I haven't priced it yet. However I haven't done any production at all yet and I've already spent 358 mill plus the freighter.
So, the only reason you should get a jump freighter is if you have a valid use for one. Living in highsec you would have almost no need for a jump freighter and the lack of being able to cyno in high sec removes the "because I'm to lazy to use jump gates" excuse that I am using.
Also it's the meta level as other people have said that effects invention. Ships being meta zero means it has absolutly no effect at all. Use this if you want to calculate invention chance it's rather good. http://games.chruker.dk/eve_online/invention_chance.php
Good luck, and the normal freighter will do just dandy.

Jump Freighters have smaller cargoholds than Freighters because of the jump drive.
The only reasons to use a Jump Freighter in hisec: * You own a Jump Frieghter and not a Freighter. * Jump Freighters are more durable. * Jump Freighters are faster. * You need to jump back out to lowsec/nulsec.
You often see Ark, Nomad, Rhea, and even the odd Anshar at Jita 4-4.

Other reasons why you won't see many Arks:
- Many train Gallente industrials for Iteron (max indy cargo). Then they won't bother to re-train another long industrial skill so they'll stick with the gallente line of freigther + JF
- Some less don't take Gallente industrials because they aim at Charon as the top m3 freigther out there anyway.
- Some less take Minmatar Mammoth due to its good cargo and then Fenrir to get a "nimbler" freigther.
Amarr have none of the above "spotlights" and thus take the backburner. - Auditing & consulting

Actually most fly the Obelisk, by far, because the Iteron Mark V is the largest industrial. Second is the Charon because a) there are heaps of Caldari Chars, and b) you're right, it has the largest cargo. Also there used to be some items like Capital Ship Construction arrays which would only fit in a Charon or Obelisk unless you trained freighter to V for the other races (not that that would have been a huge deal to that many people).

Well the only thing Amarr have is the Bestower. Amarr Industrial 1 and it has the largest cargo hold until you get to the Mammoth (Indy 4) or Itty 5 (Indy 5).

Amarr have the impel, the biggest transport, from what i recall, it can be fit to be just shy of an ITTY V, or can have mods swapped to have a tank of a bad ass mofo, most others cant do that.

ya and for an alt on a used acct thats nice, train indy to 3 really quick on an alt and u have a nice sized bestower vs the longer 4 and 5 for the mam or itty to beat it.

I would be surprised if the Obelisk was in fact the most popular. I don't recall ever seeing any numbers anywhere. A casual perusal of ships jumping around would lead me to think the Charon is the most popular. While the Iteron V has the largest cargo of the industrials, it requires Industrial V which makes it less than a day away from freighter. IMO thats kind of an odd thing to aim for when you will have a freighter shortly. In any event OP, you will probably have to resign yourself to scouring the Sell forum. They aren't terribly common. |

I trained for the Obelisk for this reason, I had trained for the Iteron for its cargo room (it is pretty cheap after-all for so much room). It may not be the best freighter, but I have never had any problems with it. ____________________________________________ When going to a party with wine, women, and song. My JF only ever enters one system in highsec. Once there, stuff gets moved to the cheaper standard freighter so that I'll suffer a smaller loss if I'm ever suicide ganked while traveling to and from Jita. I ONLY use it for transporting to and from lowsec & 0.0, and I believe most people use them this way.
If you want to see more JFs, live in a system on a high/lowsec border. |

Pretty much this. The most common JF in my neck of the woods is definitely the Anshar. Before the Rorqual and Orca were introduced the Gallente industrials were most popular with serious miners for hauling ore (as freighters cannot scoop from jetcans in belts).

Most just go indy => freighter Others go indy => blockade runner Only some go indy => transport and this affects how many will go freighter and JF

Obelisk is about as popular as Charon. Looking at Jita graphs, Charon comes ahead, but then you have also consider that at Dodixie the situation could be different, as Jita is the natural "home" for Charons more than for Obelisks.

In my case:
Badger Mark II -> Mammoth -> Prowler -> Fenrir -> Charon (before its agility was nerfed, it warped almost as fast as a Fenrir) --- 34.4:1 mineral compression |

I have Alts that fly a Obelisk and a Anshar for Empire hauling stuff of value the Anshar with my Max skill pilot has a huge HP advantage over the Obelisk, the Ansha has, Structure 270000, Armor 48600, Shield 11954, the Obelisk Strucuture 150000, Armor 27000, Shield 6641, also the Kinetic resists on the Anshar are slighty higher, they both do 97.5 m/s when running in Autopilot.
