You. Have 23mil sp and can't solo lvl 4's? I was running them solo in a dominix as soon as I could fly one, probably 4mil sp. |

And which specific mission. If you've messed up triggers in a blockade or damsel or some such you can be in for some hurt. |

Not meant as a troll. I just am not good at giving advice, other than that toon should have plenty of skills to solo LVL 4's.
I wish there was a way to import an eveboard toon into evemon. Would be alot easier to figure out the details. |

Without seeing the fit and knowing what mission you were running, there is nothing to talk about.
I started running L4 in typhoon while skilling up for raven. Took me hours to do l4 mission, lost a couple of ships while learning how to fit them. Life is short and dinner time is chancy Eat desert first! |

Are you using mission reports? Just about any mission can get too hard if you run in and kill all the triggers in a row. "I was about to say GÇ£HereGÇÖs a RubikGÇÖs cube, go f%$^ yourself,GÇ¥ because thatGÇÖs what we do with EVE Online." EVE Lead Game Designer Kristoffer Touborg for PC Gamer |

Perhaps you should refrain from commenting in a help thread if you're not good at giving advice?
OP: Regardless of your SP accumulation, I would bring in a few buddies to help you while you learn the ropes. In much the same way that mining is not challenging at all, so too are level 4 missions, but to the unexperienced there are a few things (aggro management primarily) that can catch out the uninitiated.
Good luck, and as I always say - the best ship in the whole game is the good ship Friendship.

Well, to be fair there has been very little advice at all in this thread, since the OP barely gave enough information for anyone to go on. Other than his eve board which basically shows he should have enough SP to fit a viable solo L4 ship.

Mate, your skillsheet is password-protected?
Anyway:
Amarr ships are mostly limited to EM/Thermal damage, so even at high skills may struggle against some factions, because it will take much longer to kill them, giving them more time to beat down your tank--especially with how capacitor-dependent Amarr laser-boats can be (It is possible to run out of cap--using just the guns--in an Abaddon with low skills and large beam-lasers).
Gank = tank, when it comes to NPC'ing, as you've probably already noticed.
You didn't say exactly whom you were fighting, but, again in general, try to avoid missions against the following:
Guristas (Primary weakness Kinetic, slight secondary weakness to Thermic, but not enough of one, IMHO. Plus ECM jamming makes them a tremendous pain in the meat-hole.).
Mordu's Legion (same, no jamming IIRC, but they orbit at long ranges).
Equilibrium of Mankind (EoM, same).
Caldari State (same, but Thermic is a bit better against them).
Angels (primary weakness Explosive, secondary Kinetic, lasers really suck balls against these guys).
Minmatar Republic and Thukker Tribe (same, but somewhat weaker to Thermic...Can't remember if there are any Thukker level 4s, though.).
Most of the other factions have at least a secondary weakness to Thermic, so lasers can still work on them, if not optimally.
Your favourite food would be Sansha, Blood Raider, Amarr Empire, Khanid Kingdom (I think?), and Rogue Drones, with Mercenaries/Mission Generic second (they are very weak to Thermic, and don't have big tanks, although their speed and DPS balances this--be very careful of spawn/aggro-triggers in Merc. missions.)
That, or just train the Tengu -- any other mission-ship is just too much like work, once you get used to it, and that huge damage-modifier can overcome even enemies that are normally very strong to Kinetics. In irae, veritas. |

Well if you're going to fly the apocc or any ammar BS for missions, T2 large lasers are very important, perhaps more so than the other races because you're going to need to use the T2 scorch ammo in order to hit most of the enemies that will orbit you at ranges over 40 km or so.
Since you said the incoming dps was a problem, telling us which missions you were running would be helpful, because as previous posters have said, some missions can be much deadlier than others if you have not read up on the mission beforehand on evesurvival. If you're not familiar with the term 'trigger' that is being used a lot, it is referring to the way in which new enemy ships come in during the mission. For example, if you warp in to a mission and there is 1 battleship, 2 cruisers, and 4 frigates, and evesurvival notes that the frigate is the 'trigger', when you kill the battleship a new wave of enemies will come in while you are still fighting the first, which can get really bad really fast.
The way to counter this is to figure out which ships in the mission trigger the next wave to come in upon their death, and leave them until last so you are fighting the fewest number of ships at a time. Eve survival also tells you what types of damage the npcs will be doing to you, which is very important. For example, a mission against Serpentis pirates will deal kinetic and thermal damage to you. This means that you need to put thermal and kinetic hardeners on your ship first and foremost.
Here is an example of a basic apocalypse fit you could use for missions:
High slots: 8x mega pulse laser II - scorch for long range / multifrequency for close orbiting enemies
Mid slots: 4x cap recharger II
Low slots: 3x heat sink II 1x armor kinetic hardener II 2x armor thermic hardener II 1x Large armor repairer II
Rigs: 2x capacitor control circuit I
This fit gives you decent dps at good ranges, and also can permanently run the large armor repairer. Notice that it has 3 hardeners, two for the primary damage type of serpentis pirates (thermal) and one for the secondary type (kinetic). Make sure you're bringing tech II drones so that you can kill of frigates that warp scramble you first so you can bail if things go south. You will want to switch the hardeners for every mission based on which damage types you're going to be dealt.
Once you are comfortable with the missions and the amount of tank you have on, you will be able to upgrade to better ships / fits that have more dps to complete missions faster with less tank, which is the overall goal.
Ammar ships are really the most restrictive choice for missions, because lasers always do EM and Thermal damage, which isnt very good against most of the pirates you will fight unless you are doing missions in ammar space vs. sansha and blood raiders. Caldari ships are good mission runners, but it takes some skills and good fits to get them to do as much dps as other races sometimes, and they too are not as good against different enemy types.
Hopefully you found some of this helpful, fly safe |

Use it and love it. Just find the mission you are running and look what hardeners you need to use against what rats. |
