MINOR SPOILERS BELOW
Just finished the game last night and did not see a thread for game discussion so figured I would post.
Pros: -Amazing graphics: The water effects are great at maxed settings as well as the other graphics in general. -Cool guns: Favorite gun was Speargun definitely. But all the other weapons were pretty decent. Machine gun, launcher and even the melee drill were all pretty good. Drill seemed like it was good enough, it could be used the whole game if you tried. -Good Story: Enjoyed the story except for the ending which ill put later. Like how they tied in Bioshock 1 and the psychology references were cool. -Great gameplay: Just solid gameplay in general. The areas were different from each other in major ways and I enjoyed just randomly looking around for loot. Also Big Daddy/Big Sister fights were fun.
Cons: -Not a major con but expand the dam wallet!!!!! I filled up on money pretty quickly -Research got stale I thought. I enjoyed it for a little bit but at the end of the game or near end, I was only doing it for collection of the gene tonics. -I found the rivet gun and the auto hack tool to be kind of pointless. Hack tool was useful in some situations but I do not really see the point of it over the bioshock 1 hacking method. Mini turrets were nice though. -Even though story was great, the background on the main character was a little sketchy. -Actually wish they made it longer, I think there were like 6-7 areas in total. Not sure but at least another 2 areas would have been nice. Also would have been great to be able to actually go back to other areas.
Overall: The cons are pretty minor and considering I beat the game in like a week and was a lot of fun I would probably say 9.5/10
Any other comments/opinions on this game?
MAJOR SPOILER BELOW, DO NOT READ BELOW IF YOU PLAN ON PLAYING
I thought the ending just sucked. I know they have the main character die to make him look better but I thought it was just plain dumb. They should have made it so he finally got the hell out of Rapture and then just lived in the real world with Eleanor. Also where the hell did Lamb go? They showed her surviving in the end but she randomly disappeared the in the ending scene. Imply or Implode?

Edited by: Motaka on 22/03/2010 15:24:11 I thought it was an ok game, but no way a 9.5,a rental at best.
But hasnt the thought police banned the discussion of other peoples games in OOPE?

Well wasn't sure, keeps going back and forth, Black Prophecy is on the first page too. Does it really matter? Imply or Implode?

There are IIRC 4 or 6 endings to the game.

Navigator may just see the other 4-5 game threads too.

Rivet gun useless? I used that nearly the entire game, shock 'em then head shot. It fires as fast as you can pull the trigger and has great accuracy. And it gets better once you upgrade it. Although, the trap rivets were complete useless though -

For some reason trap ones were the only ones I used. Just set them down around the gather body.
EDIT: Spoiler below
Checked out the 4 endings....wtf he dies in every one of them. Lame... Imply or Implode?

Argh Bioshock 2. Don't get me started on Bioshock 2. It is an atrocity of a game, whose very existence is an affront to PC gaming. Couple that with DRM that requires you to be logged in to GFWL just to save your game, and you get a crap-load of wasted moolah.
Avoid at all costs. ____________________

Yeah, GFWL is annoying, but setting it up to use an offline profile helps a bit. -

I agree it was a major pain in the ass but I do not think it was a poor game.
Whats with all the dam hate from people for this game??
It definitely had some good elements and I enjoyed it. The adam gathering was a pain in the ass but besides the cons i mentioned, it was just like bio 1 which was awesome.
EDIT: Also local profile solves your problem but I will agree with the wallet thing. Imply or Implode?

I simply couldn't get into it.
I've always had trouble getting into fps that don't really bring anything new to the table. I loved Fallout 3 but at the same time generic dungeon/building #72 wore on me greatly.
I didn't play bioshock 1 so that probably had me off on the wrong foot at the get go, just didn't impress me and I stopped playing like 3-4 hours into the game. ---------- Anyway, I'm sorry, but that just happens to be how *I* feel about it. What do you think? |

Yeah I agree with you 100% on fallout 3. I thought it was repetitive as hell and got really boring. It was just oblivion but in the future. I found the same of bioshock 2 at the very end where I just wanted to be done with it. I would recommend bioshock 1. Much better game I think and bioshock 2 referenced it a bunch with the story, which was interesting. Imply or Implode?
