A while ago I posted a thread about T1 Minmatar RR options, and basically came up with very little. Seems like Gallente and Caldari will always hold the edge for T1 RR cruisers.
In keeping with this thinking, I thought I would pick everyone's brains and ask what other T1 possibilities exist for Matari RR and logistics? Whether it's BC or BS, I'm curious to know what you've used, and how effective it was. We all know how the Dominix is a popular alternative. So what Minmatar ships can pull their weight in this area? The Maelstrom would seem like a good choice, due to its awesome powergrid, decent cap, and decent tankability. So while it's got little of the drone DPS options of the Domi, it more than makes up for this in terms of survivability.
Thoughts?

Train caldari or gallente if you want a t1 RR ship..
Typhoons and tempests hold their own pretty well in RR BS gangs though, not needing cap for dps and jummy typhoon drone bay, but if you really want to provide RR well (other than in a RR BS gang) you need range and that you can only get (t1) with the gallie and caldi cruisers. Maelstroms imho are better suited as epic local tanks with full gun racks.
All the above is prolly crap Drone Guide

Typhoon & Tempest, mostly because of utility slots.

Tempest has 6 turret hardpoints but 8 highslots. That leaves 2 auxiliary highs. You could put missiles in them but the dps increase would be small. So for a remote rep battleship gang it's optimal to put 2 large remote armor repairs there instead.
Typhoon has a 5/5 hardpoint split. So you could either go with 5 guns or 5 missiles, in this case it makes a bit more sense to fill the remaining 3 with the other kind but it's not optimal as you need dual damage mods to take full advantage. So they can instead be used for utility items like remote armor repairs. ---------------------------------------- "Memories are meant to fade. They're designed that way for a reason." |

Gotcha, thanks, that makes sense.

The Phoon basically fills the same role as the Dominix: utility and DPS. The only real difference between the two is that the Phoon has the option of fitting for 900-1k DPS, twice what a utility Domi can do, while still packing 3 RR. If a fight is happening within torp range, I'd take a Phoon over a Domi for this role any day. |

True, should be noted that the amarr one at least can be marginally useful with the cap transfers, but yea, minmatar one is completely useless.

Scythe with Remote SeBo and Tracking Links is great for gate camping (Highsec only).

Can you give me an example of a RR-fitted 'Phoon? I'm really hoping to make this work! :)

Here's a fantastic one I saw that a lot of people workshopped just before Dominion came out. Before someone hops all over the hardeners as opposed to EANMs: resists = more effective incoming tank. It's also missing a point, which I don't like, but you are in a gang...

Trust me, if you are in a RR battleship blob, ECCM is useless and really not needed.
You are better off with a point, more cap regen or something like that.
Hell I don't even fit an ECCM on my scimitar and I've NEVER been ECMd.
Sure, if you really want to be able to go HAH YOU CANT ECM ME the 1 off odd time you actually do get ECMd, you'll fail anyway because you will get ECMd anyway if they really want to. __________________________________________________
