Edited by: Pixelst0rm on 23/03/2010 10:53:05 This is a post out of shear frustration. Gurista Extravaganza l4, last pocket... God... thats the first time i am SO frustrated in a video game EVER. It took me 2 hours to kill 3 battleships. Its like: you lock > shoot once > perma jam for a minute > try to lock again > failed; jammed > lock again: they regened the damage you did first time. 5 almost perfect hammerheads doing nothing to them either. And i wasnt pulling any extra. Killed those 3? Another 3 spawned with pretty much same features.
Is this supposed to be this way? IMO this is S.T.U.P.I.D. there should be some sort of diminishing returns on such things or do i suppose to bring a fleet to level 4 in addition to pretty much perfect marauder character?

Edited by: Nostromium on 23/03/2010 11:52:57 If it's any consolation to you, i'm new to PvE, I was doing a level 2 Caldari mission in a Drake where I thought you had to wipe out all the pirates in the complex. It was a jam-fest extravaganza. Warp in, perma-jammed, repeat ad nausaeum.
...Until I checked the mission details and realised I only had to fly to a structure then warp out...

Have you tried all the ECCM's you can feasibly fit?

A few things to keep in mind : - Having ECCMs DO NOT make you 100% immune, you WILL get jammed. - ECCMs will reduce the appreciably the number of times you get jammed. - Your ship sensor str is a factor to how frequently you get jammed. - Learn to identify* the jamming Guristas frigates, cruisers and BS. They're easy to remember. Kill them first.
* lookup sites with NPC ship database e.g. Deadspace Guristas ships |

So does ECCM work or not? I am confused. Also i believe that i did GE a lot before this weekend and it was not more then few jams in total. But this few days i ran it twice and i had permajam for more then an hour every time. Specifically i spent over 90 minutes in the last pocket just today.
Also i know what ships are jamming me ù 3 battleships and few frigates that spawn right there ù but i cant kill them simply because they regen more hp then i do dps between jams. I managed to kill frigates with drones (which wasnt fast because drones preferred to attack battleships for some reason and i didnt have enough time to lock frigates) then i was killing BSs for the next hour on a 1000+ dps marauder.

Yes, ECCM works vs Guristas NPC. Jamming success correlates directly with your ship's sensor str. However, use common sense when deciding IF to ECCMs and how many.
That said, you can mitigate the Guristas jamming effects by minimizing your exposure time to the jamming ships. That's pretty much what most veteran mission runners (on marauders) do without having to resort to ECCMs. Primary them and seek your drones on them at first opportunity.

Not to burst everyone's bubble but I'm quite sure that NPC jamming has a fixed chance of simply succeeding or not. The rat itself decides whether or not to jam and if it does, your sensor strength doesn't matter. They might've changed it at some point, but as far as I know your sensor strength is irrelevant for mission running.

Read Sturm's thread, first.

Jamming doesn't bother me as much, its Serp Sensor damping that is a pain. Gurista ships seem to pop very fast and if your jammed once I am usually able to send drones on it right after it wears off (I started using a Sensor Booster, best use over a tracking computer for a mid slot!). Not so much with Serps, as they tend to use BS and HAC cruisers with high resists that sensor damp you 4x-6x at the same time, I had 160km lock range reduced to under 30 which was useless as I burned away with an an AB to keep transversal down to shoot slow ass thoraxs with high resist and bounty (My drone kills are ok, just not maxed out for lights/mediums ATM

You don't mention what ship you were using, or I'm just very blind, but using the correct drones would have helped. Also FoFs are very useful if you are using missiles.
Always use kinetic drones vs gurista and serps cause of damps and ECM.
edit: and just to remind you, there is still no divider between posts and sigs.
