Hi,
I have been trying to find tools that make EVE more profitable and more fun for me, but have so far come up a bit short.
In particular I am looking for tools that are either Out of Game (OOG) or 3rd-party apps, as the browser in Dominion is very slow when used through Wine (any similar experiences?). Let me start off by listing the tools I use, and the ones I would like to use. gtkevemon (http://gtkevemon.battleclinic.com/) pyfa (EFT-like app, http://sourceforge.net/projects/pyfa/) www.eve-central.com + www.eve-metrics.com - I cannot use the uploaders though and contribute myself. Any help with that? Pondering hacking Linux support into contribtastic)
Tools I would like to see ported/clones: EveHQ Dedafs production tool (http://www.eveonline.com/iNgameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=557482, needs a conversion to OpenOffice or a Google App equivalent) Navbot - for finding trade routes (http://www.eveonline.com/iNgameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=557482)
Others?
Thanks for any suggestions etc.

pyfa is good. Its clean though the only thing that bugs me is the faction mods arent correctly being separated as it looks like they should. It's stable though and i use it a lot. Much better than EveFits glitches via wine :P
gtkEvemon is also ok. Its in its infancy and last i checked seemed to have stalled a little. Unfortunately i have no time to help him :P It works, its neat and hasnt crashed on me yet. But lacks some of the neater features of EveMon, as you would expect. EveMon has a few programmers and a few years on GTKEvemon. If a few OSS programmers can identify some features as a hit list and nibble there way through then it might rival EveMon
However dare i say it i recently found the latest Mono runs EveMon sources. It occasionally crashes but the features seem to work accurately. I occasionally boot it up.
As for eve central uploader. There are Linux source libs for the cache extractor libraries that it uses. The auto uploader itself is written in python but has some windows compilation stuff which locks it down a little. I looked briefly at trying to do a dirty port of the uploader, but never got that far. It should be well and truly possible but just takes a bit better experience with python and the libs than i have to spare.
As for trading tools, none that i know of. I wrote some a couple of years back for NPC trading within an indervidual region. But not in a system or language that would provide practical for distribution :P
You mentioned Eve is slow with wine. I'd tend to disagree. Perhaps back when Eve was run through Cedega via CCP yes. But with Wine and a decent power graphics card Eve runs as smooth as i ever ran it on windows. And as a plus my PC can multi task far better ever than Windows did :P
Whats your hardware setup? There may be some tweeks we can suggest with gfx, wine or registry settings that may help.

Apologies for the Hijack, but any help getting EvE to NOT Crash with an ATI 5750 would be much obliged :) (Using Linux Mint)

Er, your welcome to Hi-jack. But its going to get about as much help as a Tourist asking directions in a rabbit hutch. (Watching Zero Punctiuation makes me random)
Zenith, repost your own topic with a title "Getting ATi model xxxx" in the main Linux forum and someone who actually has one working may post back. In here you have me with an nVidia 9800GT and goodness knows what Zenith has. I know nothing about ATi cards
Not complaining, just saying you might find people to help if you do :)

Dracos: I did not say *Eve* runs slow, it runs great! And it seems to have stopped leaking memory after I disabled the cache for items/objects (forgot the setting now). What *is* slow for me, though, is Chromium under Eve, it bogs down my CPU.
I have a E8200 (dual-core 2.66 GHz), a 8800GT and 4 GB RAM. Should more than do.
Hijack: sorry, not my kind of graphics card either.
