Small to large cruiser to bs gang armour rr: At least two cap transferring Guardians with the moar the better. Small fast roaming gang rr for mostly shield tanked frigs and cruisers: Single Scimitar or maybe a couple for a really big scrap. That is all.

*sigh*
There is no overall BEST logistics ship in the game... there is only the "best" for a given situation.
That said, my understanding is that the Guardian (Amarr logi) is best suited for armor gangs and large fleets. It is also my understanding that solo Guardian support is a big "no-no" and that it has to be paired up with with another Guardian (or more).
When it comes to shields and skirmish warfare, I've heard that the Scimitar is the ship of the day. Supposedly it's fast, it's agile, and can sport a mean shield buffer.
I won't comment too much on the Basilisk or the Oneiros as I have not heard much about them. I will say that I have seen Basilisks on POS repping duty quite often. _______________________

guardian is amazing for armor fleet fights, scimi is best for roaming nano gangs
bassi is best for pos repping
onerios is the ~worst~ but is still p. respectable

Guardian and basilisk are about equal doing the same task, for respective kind. Armor is more popular, poses require basilisks so it evens out in use. Guardian especially is crap for solo. Basilisk is mainly just... bad.
Scimitar is great for solologistics and the only one viable for nanogangs.
Oneiros is decent if you have no other logistics and you're running armor. But as mentioned, without much doubt the worst.
Parrots, commence!

The best logistics is the one that the enemy gang isn't expecting and doesn't have the ECM to counter.

This is why we always bring out a gang of 40 shieldtanked drakes, and 2 oneiroses. Oh wait... Parrots, commence!

Edited by: Jotobar on 29/03/2010 06:52:32 Guardians and Basilisks require that you have in total atleast 2 of them for energy transfering each other, when you do they are superior. Almost all blobs are armor tanked so guardian wins most of the time.
Schimitar works very well in small fast hac/bc gangs (often shield tanked), you are cap stable and you'll be efficient even if you're the only logi or if one of the few you are bringing gets jammed.
Oneiros fills the same role as schimitar but for armor instead which is just not as common, so overall it's kindof the loser of the bunch. Still, in the right type of situation..

In all honesty the logistscs are some of the best balanced ships in the game and all them are worth flying.
*Guardian - widely considered the best logistic for armour RR BS gangs. With the ability to create cap out of nowhere they can perma run 4 large RRs with speed mod, ECCM, and full tank by bouncing 2 cap transfers. If you go the extra bit for logistics 5 you can run 5 larege RRs by bouncing a single cap transfer.
*Oneiros - A close competitor with the guardian for armour RR they take a bit more SP than a Guardian. With logistics 4 you will only be able to run 3 RRs. But with logistics 5 you can permarun 4 RRs, and speed mod while fitting a reasonable tank and ECCM, although it does have a bit lower EHP than a Guardian. The upside to the Onieros is that if you jam a Guardian after about 2 cycles its partner will cap out and you will have effectively taken 2 logistics out of the fight with a single jammed target. With 2 Oneiroses, jam one the other will still have 4 large RRs running constantly. The Guardian comes out ahead, but it's still a fairly close competition.
*Scimitar - the logistics of choice for shield HAC gangs, its agility and speed allow it to keep up with fast moving gangs while providing reps. It also sports a decent shield buffer itself for other scimitars to rep against.
*Basilisk - This is probably the least used. Occasionally taken on shield tanked roams, but its poor agility normally make it a hinderance. Would work great with shield BS gangs, but these are few and far between. The excel at repping POSes, only slightly losing out to a carrier with 2 Capital shield transporters(except Nids ofc).
All of the logistics fill a roll, and while some overlap a bit they are all useful in their own right.
