Well, I'm trying to make some money by ratting. I'm still training skills for better ships, so at the moment, this is what I have. I haven't tried ratting in this yet, so I'm wondering what's the lowest sec status I could rat in without having to warp out everytime. I'm ratting against Guristas if that makes a difference. Thanks.

Is good joke, yes?
Serious tip: don't leave highsec if that's your ratting ship.

I easily ratted in 0.5 with a rifter. Are you really telling me that this couldn't even handle 0.4?

Low-sec can have (rare in 0.4, more common in 0.1) battleship spawns which will easily rip that fit to pieces. A decently-fit cruiser should be able to handle itself, though (orbiting the rats, etc). By the way, this is my signature.

A rifter would win over this setup in every aspect...

Destroyer : A ship in EvE online that is unfortunate enough to have a frigate sized tank, fitting, and EHP, while maintaining a cruiser sized sig radius.
The cormorant will be a considerably slower than, oh say, a Merlin. Because of the sig radius, you will be taking more damage from rats and players, without any more tanking potential than a frigate.
So... BS rats will rip you apart. BCs will be extremely hazardous and possibly fatal. And if a human player catches you at a belt/gate, you are done for. And its not a matter of if, its a matter of when.

If you don't already use Ombey's 2D maps, get them. Find an obscure part of space next to an 0.4 system. Check the map for ship/podkills, and if it is quiet, jump in.
Immediately warp to a planet, check local for who's in there, and if its one or two people with high security status they're probably not on a gank picnic.
Check your scanner often for probes, and then go for it. The anticipation, adrenalin, and possible rewards will be well worth the risk.
I wouldn't got in with a boatload of implants though, although you may not have access to a clone yet......

Ditto to the icksnay on the destroyer bit.
They can be effective (relatively) ratting ships but generally require full t2 fits with decent to good supporting skills and end up costing so much you might as well be flying an AF. I even had relatively good luck ninja ratting in Querious back in the day in a Coercer, but it was for fun not profit.
Rifter, Merlin, Punisher will work wonders... your sig and speed will keep you safe from the cruiser/bc/bs rats as long as you watch your approaches and keep an eye on transversal. Kill the destroyers first as they will be your biggest threat, and the frigs second.

[Catalyst, Zero Zero Ratter] Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Overdrive Injector System II Damage Control II
1MN Afterburner II Tracking Computer II
125mm Railgun II, Antimatter Charge S x8
With anti-matter and half decent skills this is a 150 dps destroyer that can easily peg and pop out to 20km. You close range/speed tank BS's and can fairly easily insta-pop most frigs. 3+ NPC Cruisers means your moving on to the next belt. The tranking computer allows you to actually hit close range interceptors, and switching to long range scripts allows you to hit Stealth bombers that decide to try and play. Joust everyone else and over heat. With your DCU II you have the larger HP buffer compared to any available frig = Win. And you should align fast enough to get away from Player cruisers and larger.
Fly smart and you can easily rat 0.0 safely. Just pray you don't hit warp bubbles... then your dead.
