Im talking about having a low quality moon that isent affiliated with any major alliance or corp and therefore only would have the basic turrets and such protecting it. Would this in any way be an attractive target to anyone at all? Never really done much moon affiliated buisness before.

An undefended POS will get attacked much more frequently than a large deathstar ship eater that's for sure.

I assume by undefended you mean no fleet will come to it's rescue. Because if you are setting up a moon mining operation* without defenses you should probably go back to mining Scord. With proper defenses, a large tower will go unharassed typically assuming the moon is an R16 or less. It just frankly isn't worth the effort for a pirate corporation to bang against and no large entity will care about a R16. I mined and reacted with 6 towers for a summer and was never touched. My strategy was to look like a pain in the ass to attack. I had hardeners to increase resists to over 90% on large towers. People have to be pretty masochistic to go for an R16 pumped up like that.
Every area is different, you may have a very territorial lowsec corp in the area for example. Scout out the area and see if the towers all belong to one corp or if it is scattered. Check activity on the maps to see where camps center. Basicly, do your research and if the area is very active then find another profession. Solo moon mining is all about not being a target.
*this of course assumes you aren't planting a small tower and ninja mining for as long as you can last. In which case you wouldn't be worried about average attack rates. ----------------------------- Phey OnatSaehta |

Are you just putting up labs or wanted to moon mine?
long ago I had two POS, one in low sec and one in 0.0. small towers, the one in low sec was like mini death star POS and safespot for our snipers/low sec ops. and was put into re-enforced about 5 times in a month before blown up. as where most of them in the area by groups of smaller alliances to scared to go do the 0.0 game but wanted to use their capital ships to blow something up.
the one in 0.0 had a corp hanger for ore when you could overload them, with bistot and still remove when offline, had only two turrets, and webber/scram. it was never attacked... and was left offline for 3 months before a vagabond destroyed the offline stuff floating around. tower was there 1 year later at moon still
this was back few years when small towers where on market by npc's for 25mil so i didnt care much about all the POS gear, So i would say, go 0.0 or high sec.

As long as your moon goo is crap and you don't **** off peeps around you, you're good in lowsec. In 0.0, same rule applies plus it depends on where your gears are at and whom you live by.
I can't think of specific do's and dont's off the top of my head except those. You just have to try and get it. Oh, btw, there was an article about a group of guys who were ninja-mining in 0.0 behind big guys' back. That might also help you get started.

Yeah, I was thinking the OP would get better responses elsewhere.

On average every 3.14159265 days. It appears to rotate in a circular pattern though.

I was in a corp once, had a large tower in low sec, a guy in a Abaddon came along and shot at it for what seemed like 2 days straight, just over and over again. Eventually downed the shields, waited out the timer, shot at the POS until it died. Then shot at everything else destroying the whole tower.
The Directors did nothing, they believed at the start the guy would just give up, but he didn't took him about 4 days to totally kill the tower from fully shielded to totally destroyed.. I literally think he logged in, start his attack, let eve run all day.
If a guy wants to kill it, he will no matter how long it takes. An easy juicy target with no defense is something people will shoot at.. I'm sure he thought someone would eventually show up to defend, he then get his carrier out or something, I never asked. I thought "Anyone who spends 4 days playing the game waiting to kill a POS with no financial reward clearly has something wrong with them."

I had a corp wardec me and kill my undefended high sec towers for no gain whatsoever. No ransom offer was made. I unanchored and moved all the labs but left the towers up, thinking the attackers would tire. Nope, they killed the towers, and then withdrew the wardec. Possibly a contract job, but I don't have any enemies that I know of and the moons are still unoccupied one year later.
I imagine a moon with something even remotely valuable to be mined would draw more attention. You should probably add at least a little bit of defense to your POS.

And no one took a gank harbi out to kill him? Seriously it's one little battleship.
