Is there any cruiser, battlecruiser, t2 or t3 cruiser that can affectivelly run combat lvl 4's solo? I can fly any amar/minnie/or gallente cruiser as well as tech 2 and 3 amar and minnie cruisers. Ive tried the battleship run but its such a pain to target frigs/cruisers with big guns. Ive got good drone skills but theres still to many smaller ships to take out with only 5 drones. So basically im asking does anyone have a solid cruiser class ship that theyve run lvl 4's with solo? I can use most T2 modules. And isk really is no object, ive got a few nice b/x-type shield modules. Or should i just hammer out those battleship and large gun skills? Also i have and can fly most of the pirate faction cruisers as well. Pretty much anything except caldari.
Thanks for the help

Vagabond. Probably Cynabal aswell now. Speed tank, shield buffer, all lows with damage mods.
Missions with crapton of webbing frigs that land you at 0 not advised. |

Most do them in Caldari T3, but popular non BS choices are Drake and Hurricane. The latter is what I used and done most L4 with. Passive tanked, search for "Passivecane". - Auditing & consulting

I currently use a hurricane for solo lvl 4s. Armour tanked. There are a few missions I skip, mainly because the dps output wasn't enough to break enemy tanks (my tank was fine). Not tried since I upgraded to T2 guns.

I used an active shield tanked Cynabal before I was ready to jump into BS's and it was very viable and enjoyable. Just this:

But I can't understand you here:

I hit frigs on approach in a Maelstrom or Machariel just fine. With 800mm AC down to 15km, with 1200mm Artillery down to 25km approx. Not any more if they're closer of course, but often enough this just doesn't happen.

Sleipnir, Absolution, Loki, Ishtar, Gila, Tengu, Nighthawk are very good. Proteus and Legion are a somehow lacking for lvl4 in my opinion.
Cynabal and Vagabond, they are "fun", but not as good (lower dps, thin tank turning the first mistake into a wreck).
Drake, Hurricane, Myrmidon are quite good too. But if you can fly TII and TIII, they're better.

RF Stabber works, either armour/speed/sig tanked or shield tanked. Honestly though none of them are going to be as effective as a BS ( save Ravens, which aren't really better than drakes unless you pimp them ). If you can't take cruisers out with a BS you need better gunnery skills, though.

I've done a good deal of the level 4s in a Hurricane with the following fit: [Highs] 6 x 650mm II Artillery (Use RF ammo if you need to break a difficult tank) 2 x AML II (I use Arbalest for fitting) anti scramming frig, along with drones [Mids] 3 x Cap Recharger II 1 x 10MN AB II [Lows] 1 x MAR II 2 x EANM II 1 x DCU II 1 x Gyro II 1 x TE II [Rigs] 1 x Medium Ambit I 1 x Medium Anti-explosive Armor I [Drones] 5 x Warrior II (or Hob IIs if needed) (This will AWU 5, high Projectile rigging skills or a PG implant to fit, but you can skip the ambit if needs be)
With this you simply kite the NPC BSs and use your speed to avoid taking too much damage. This can perma run both the AB and the MAR. You'll use the AMLs and drones to kill any scramming frigs as being webbed or scrammed might lose you your ship. Of course, there are missions you can't do in this, such a Smash the suppliers, The Assault, but it works fine, if slowly, for all Angel missions.
The thing is that you'll be far quicker in a BS such as a CNR, Golem, Vargur, or Maelstrom. -- Sometimes I think of CCP as a mentally challenged child with a big hammer in its hand trying to fix the broken plates in the room by hitting them as hard as it can. |

I use a spidertanking duo of hurri's now, but plan to make a cynabal/scimitar couple when my alt learns the scimitar.

If ya can do gallente HACs: Ishtar will snore through lvl4s. speed/armor tank will let ya fly around at 500+m/s. No ammo to worry about, just launch drones and scoot about.

duo != solo
Edit: Looks like I also failed to read the OP and posted a drake fit. Drake != amarr, minnie or gallente. My bad.

In my opinion, there are many ships you can do level 4 mission in. But if I had to choose one per class, this would be my list:
Battlecruisers: Drake - really can do anything solo, including AE bonus room, blockade, etc.
T3 cruisers: I would say Tengu is your best choice.
HAC: Ishtar

Your best bet as suggested is an Ishtar or Tengu. If you can fly pirate faction cruisers and have decent drone skills, you might be just a few weeks from Heavies or Sentries in a Gila which can let you speed/range tank larger ships while your drones do the work (I do not advise Mordus Headhunter 4, you will get blobbed by scores of medium ships with heavy missiles. R.I.P. My gila after flying it for 2 hours ). Or a Proteus with a monster tank over the Gila. As for battleships, a sensor booster and an AB on a dominix makes a world of difference in making it tolerable to target frigs or chase down those pesky acceleration gates
