Edited by: Radix Salvilines on 08/04/2010 14:53:51 Hi there,
The idea I want to present here is something I always wanted EVE to have. A destination shortcuts, as can be seen on the picture linked below:
Linkage
I will not be making an essay about it. I think everything is clear in here. But if you like to read here is some:
The idea is to enchance/replace the current waypoint system and make the use of autopilot function more friendly. Atm we have to access the map to set the destination - something which takes time (especially for traders that travel a lot), uses servers (most horrible thing is when one forgets to switch 'stars colors' sorting by sovereingty back to something else) and some may get confused by the amount of colourful lines when setting waypoints.
As seen on the picture a new menu appears on the UI. Shortcuts :P Once expanded there are some options and bookmarked systems. This thing requires only 2 clicks (expand the menu + click on the system name) to set a destination.
One may right click on the system and choose the option (set destination) if he wants to but its designed to be fast in use - so only one left-button click on the specific system is enough.
Of course the idea may be expanded so that one may place systems into folders (one folder for every region for 0.0 dwellers, folders buy systems sell systems warzone etc for traders). One could also add a visible comment to a system (like ninjas in Dodixie, or pos locations)...
The only thing that bothers me is why this crap is not in game already? :D

I have a suggestion for you that is already in the game
Use your assets window!
Usually you have stuff at the locations you travel to the most, so it will show up in that window. And if you don't, you can easily buy something dirt cheap and put it there.
By sorting the assets by either distance or name you can easily find the system you are looking for.
And like your suggestion it only requires two clicks to use.

2. one thing i recently started to use: the notepad make a new note "often visited systems" then type in all systems you regularly use (i have on per line) when you are done with it autolink them all.
3. ... of course ... you can also use the people&places bookmark tab. but i use the note as i have the destinations with annotations

i partially agree - but what you are proposing are just tricks/workarounds/"second hand" solutions. The number of clicks go up when you leave different tabs in p&p opened, have bms in different folders, autolinking on chat is slow and you have to remember the exact system names.
I very much like this idea:

i will use it thanks, thou still when you have multiple notes and folders in notepad you may find out that you still prefer to open a map and set destination in the old fashioned way than use the notepad.
Its all about keeping the game simple, UI cleaned-up. Your ideas are focus-diverting / mind resources consuming and this is exactly what I would like to straighten up haha. No need for opening windows, no need for digging through other windows, just click where i know i will find what i need and go :)
Actually darius' idea made me make another idea - to make a html version of the list with systems :) that would be the nearest (provided i set the site as a homepage) thing to what i am proposing.
Radix Salvilines went on making a html system list...
p.s. anyone knows where i can find how to make linkies in html sites so that they refer to eve systems in game?
