The star system that Earth was in was called Eden. The Garden of Eden existed once on that planet where we human beings descended from and evolved. Therefore I want to call that system 'Eden'. Do you agree? Investor |

I believe aliens call our solar system "Hurfdurfle Derpkunt" which translates into something like "insignificant ass-backward system which is best avoided". They also checked on us between '40-'45 and decided not to invest in us for the coming couple of hundred centuries. Help us to make parrots game related today! |

"sol"-ar system
Sol is Latin for Sun, and it refers to the star in our Solar System. It is quite commonly used to pinpoint our Solar System also.

Edited by: Boltorano on 12/04/2010 18:33:52 The correct in-game naming scheme for humanity's original home planet (in English) would be "Sol III (Earth)".
Edit:
This is assuming the planet wasn't re-named by the time the EVE Gate was erected, since they are referred to as "Terrans" in places within the game fiction, in which case it could be "Sol III (Terra)" or something else entirely.
2nd Edit:
If we're going to follow the Latin "Sol" for the naming scheme, "Terra" would be more appropriate.

That would require us to lie, and I'm not comfortable with that. Douglas Adams not withstanding, the bulk of the human race are dumb, dangerous, panicky animals that are quite willing to kill, knife, or explode anything that startles them into action. --Vel

Yeah, EVE actually gets it wrong when it refers to all star systems as "solar systems". There is only one Solar system and we're in it right now (IRL).

Right. Voting for Terra as well, mainly because knowledge of its real name has long since vanished in the mists of time.
Sol III (Terra) it is.

You need to stop using those Texas science school books and use the French versions instead!

Try using a reference more reliable than the wiki and you'd be taken more seriously. Wikipeadia does not count as a reliable source of information. Try again.
