Around 17mb, so in other words there's really no argue that the spam uses a lot of bandwidth (17mb over a week isn't really a lot).
/c
Well youre not the only one in the system, the server needs to send that spam to everyone in Jita,if there is about 1000 People online average, then that is 17 GB
ofc for CCP it's more. I was thinking from the viewpoint of a pilot and their connection.
Assuming there's an average of 1000 pilots in jita CCP would waste some ~12GB/week yes (assuming around 2/3 is spam of the logs).

One would think that by those amounts of wasted bandwidth they¦d do something about it.. edit; not to mention server load, cpu wise

17Mb isn't a lot, but that's only the data sent to you...that data is being sent to everyone in Jita! I don't know what the average number of people in Jita is at the moment - but as it approaches a thousand people then we're looking at 17GB right there!

Edited by: Capt Fossil on 14/04/2010 15:30:53 Well done Sir Chribba, well done.
It has most certainly reached the point of ridiculous and is racing past that point daily.
CCP devote more resources to problems with existing game "features". Fix them and then give us "expansions".
I have turned in 2 groups of Macro miners in the last couple of months. Both groups are back at it, 23/7.
CCP: are you really this powerless in your own game?
Thank you for you effort and caring Chribba.

Excellent work Chribba.
These analyses are always a great read. It's a shame you even have to do them though; CCP isn't nearly proactive enough in these matters. ---- FREE Explorer Lead Megalomanic EVE Null-Sec Player Influence Map http://dl1.eve-files.com/media/corp/Veritefw/FWinf |

It will not look good if suddenly 2000 players stopped logging in.

Very nicely done chribba.
I am surprised there are not programs already in place to monitor and stop this.

Problem - they've done this before, releasing an 'expansion' that was primarily fixes. The outcry and anger from the community over getting fixes instead of content was quite loud. Apparently CCP can't win no matter what they do.

they continue spamming these contracts, etc, even after they have been completed, which is a slight give away.
CCP should permaban the accounts.

threadnaught in progress....however notice the lack of the usual GD suspects. Makes one wonder what they do when not spamming the forums..
ATTENTION CCP: Just in the last couple of weeks there have been threads here, MD and who know's where else with folks complaining about Macro spammers, Macro Miners, Macro Mission Runners, Macro Traders.
NOT ONE WORD OF ACKNOWLEDGEMENT or an official response from CPP about these very serious problems.
I have already petitioned Macro Miners...the same guys are back at it again, same system, same modus operandi. It's not my job, it's your job CCP to stop this. We can never have real markets, the ability to actually sell something in Jita via advertisement, fair mission rewards, fair prices on Officer Loot and ore until you act. Not one big Bang!, but a continuous effort with a real staff.
If you are thinking that you are gonna lose alot of paying accounts, well you are quite probably right. Tough crap, you shouldn't have let it get this bad to begin with.
Do something.....and keep doing it. Ban em, sue em, just make them go away.
PS: Thanks again Sir Chribba :)

Very well done sir!
You have documented (with statistics) what anyone who actually plays this game already knows. It would seem difficult for CCP to ignore this data unless they really don't give a Fedo's arse.
CCP staffers will probably be instructed to be very silent until an "official" response can be carefully crafted and polished by the CCP PR/Marketing Weasel.
Next, maybe you can work out some statistics on how many times the average forum user has to log-in just to make or respond to a post?
The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the ho's and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!' and I'll look down, and whisper 'no.' |

Maybe using a macro to try to compete with the spammer/scammers?
Once again CCP, I would like to point out that ALL of the prolific GD posters have NO comments in this thread.
Does that tell you anything?

Report Spam filter would work. It would monitor the spam from the one being reported over a few minutes then block or simply check the server log files. There was a lot of player resistance to the ISK report button though, despite it working well in other games, I suspect the same would happen here.
EVE does seem to have a high inherent player and CCP resistance to suggestions which stop macro anything. Can't imagine why.

Nice one Chribba - having looked thru those stats it would appear some people need to use the report isk spammer more given I could easily pick out two spamming a isk selling site.
But I agree - certainly looks like some people use macro's - why is this still overlooked is what I'm asking myself as well.
Hope CCP apprecieate your work/effort on this and something good comes from it. I for one thank you for your time.
