I was about to make the same topic. Not to mention the system offered for winning is actually kind of crap and cheap ass compared to all the emails that will be harvested for marketing purposes ___________

im just guessing its cause of legal limitations by BigFoot as CCP is only a sponsor...not a host of the contest...

You expect Bigfoot/Alienware to ship to Burkina Faso because someone won a bloody contest? You expect CCP to turn down a contest because it isn't global?

Some darn good pod-pilots in Burkina Faso, so they'd better ship there!

CCP has sponsored contests not available to the US in the past so I don't know what the issue is here.

You will want to contact Bigfoot if you have questions on why this contest is only available for US residents. They may have certain guidelines they have to follow in order to give this prize away.

Hah, you're one to talk! Posting about fanfest in a formation flying thread.
As for the topic at hand: A few of you are asking about universally available contests and prizes. Perhaps you should check out some of the excellent in-game sports and competitions, they offer real in-game ISK and assets to all the EVE players, no matter where you are from in real life.

It's just a USA company doing an EVE themed promotion and stuff, nothing wrong with that. Good luck to the guys living in the USA who choose to participate.
HOWEVER.
Not specifying this was for US residents only here was pretty clumsy work and hopefully will be fixed soon. Because leaving out that particular piece of information in the main article can be interpreted in a very non-flattering way towards Fallout and CCP. __________

You will want to PUT up some decent info on your website. STating it is for US residents only.. Instead of just anouncing we can win something... Like emailing them would make a difference.. Do not click this ad. |

I'm sure you will have to write a petition to get that across and then the GM will say he cannot do anything with this information.

Its obvious to me that you missed the print right above where you put your E-mail address that makes that clear..."reading is fundamental".

Must admit this really irks me. This seems to happen a lot with US companies making competitions US only - especially given that their products cost just as much (often more) when we non-US residents buy them and given that the money for these contests comes out of the marketing budget maybe we should get a rebate for not being in the US and so not being eligible for the competitions??

there are regulations US companies need to follow regarding competitions and sales... just like there are competitions (i just signed up for on newegg) that exclude Rhode Island. And chances are the company is paying ccp not the other way around to use their name and userbase for the competition.. find a company in your area and tell them its a good marketing strategy instead of *****ing all the damn time.

This is just a guess but... there are certain regulations where certain hardware and software that is available in the US cannot be sold or "given" away in different countries...
