Edited by: NightmareX on 15/04/2010 20:26:19 Hey.
Yesterday i found a funny script that is for Windows only. The script takes the time on how long time your computer use to shut down the computer and then start up the computer again.
If you wanna try the script out, then open up Notepad and write this in:
Option Explicit On Error Resume Next Dim Wsh, Time1, Time2, Result, PathFile, MsgResult, MsgA, AppName, KeyA, KeyB, TimeDiff MsgA = "Please close all running applications and click on OK." KeyA = "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RestartTime\" KeyB = "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\RestartTime" AppName = "RudeBoySes @ www.ForumW.Org" Set Wsh = CreateObject("WScript.Shell") PathFile = """" & WScript.ScriptFullName & """" Result = wsh.RegRead(KeyA & "Times") if Result = "" then MsgResult = Msgbox (MsgA, vbOKCancel, AppName) If MsgResult = vbcancel then WScript.Quit Wsh.RegWrite KeyA & "Times", left(Time,8), "REG_SZ" Wsh.RegWrite KeyB, PathFile, "REG_SZ" Wsh.Run "cmd /c Shutdown -r -t 00", false, 0 else Wsh.RegDelete KeyA & "Times" Wsh.RegDelete KeyA Wsh.RegDelete KeyB TimeDiff = DateDiff("s",Result,left(Time,8)) MsgBox "Your computer restarts in " & TimeDiff & " seconds", VbInformation, AppName end if wscript.Quit
And save the file as restarttime.vbs and then run the script.
Now, lets see who can get the lowest time here. My shut down and startup time was 36 secs with Aero theme turned off. Yes, my SSD helps alot on that.
Nothing is really usefull with this script. It's only to see how fast your computer is to shut down and start up.

It's a typo on line 7 in the script, it should be:
AppName = "Restart Timer"
As for time, I got 38 seconds with Aero enabled and typing the login password.

My machine can't shut down unassisted since it runs 24/7 for weeks or months on end. When I do eventually tell it to shut down, half of everything running crashes.

Who honestly cares? I turn mine off when I go to bed, and when I wake up I turn it on before getting ready. So for all I care, my restart time is 0 seconds. ___

If you don't care, then no one is telling you to post here.
This script is just for the hell of it just for the fun of seeing how fast your computer is. Nothing more.

I just did the same test on my laptop so login + Aero = 36s.
Once you go SSD it's no going back so I upgraded all my computers except the fileserver (for obvious reasons).

Yeah, SSD's are the way to go if you want a really fast Windows 7.
My time that is 36 seconds was with Aero off and auto login.

What SSD do you use?
I have the Intel X-25M G2 80GB in laptop and main PC. I also added a X-25V 40GB in my HTPC to make it completely silent.

I have an OCZ Vertex 120 GB SSD.
Not the best SSD for really small files, but it does really good on bigger files.

I got a total time of 13.
...
Nanoseconds.
I actually do have a Crucial M225 SSD, but I'm too lazy to run your script. ____________________
