A few minutes ago I received an e-mail which claimed to be from [email protected]
It was a rather nice looking e-mail, with the subject "two days left to reactivate". Here is a screenshot:

So, a nice little blurb about what has happened with the last few expansions. You may see at the bottom a button claiming "Click here for 5 free days".
This message is a scam. It is an attempt to steal your username and password for EVE. Thunderbird gave me a message saying it was a suspected fishing site when i clicked on the link. I proceeded to the site to see how convincing tey were trying to be, and it looks like they stopped at the email. Here's a screenshot of the phishing site:

As you can see, all of the image links are broken. The URL of the site is "eve-online.zxq.net"
TL;DR If anyone gets an email with an offer of 5 free days of game time, it's a scam to steal your account. Don't fall for it.

Here's an easy way to prevent yourself from being scammed: If it's not SSL, don't enter your information. EVE's login page is secured. By the way, this is my signature.

Yes grandpa, some of us deal with a little bit more than text. It is a big scary world out there, but as long as you pay attention to what your clicking on, it'll be alright.
With that said, thanks OP, and like others have said, watch for the secured, pay attention to the address, and do know what your clicking on if you accept the risk of using those newfangled HTML emails

the worring fact that no one in this post so far has noticed, THEY HAVE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS.... as most people dont get the scams you must have been to a site and put you address in some where !! the only sites i can think of would be isk sites or macro sites or forums ??

What makes you think scammers can not get an SSL certificate?
Your advice is wrong.

I do not know about Internet Explorer. But when using Firefox. Official login pages that are SECURE (that are legit) have a blue highlight in the URL.
Also. Remember IF IT IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE IT'S A SCAM. Has CCP EVER given out free days that was NOT a part of an attempt to relure old unsubbed accounts?
OP advice is sound. Check the links. Also, Can't CCP report these people to like...Interpol or something like that?

I just had a little panic because I remembered getting one of these emails a while ago. After looking closely at it though, the one I got knew how much ISK my inactive character had, telling me I could reactivate for two days and buy a PLEX, so I think the one I got was genuine.
Isn't that a big flaw in their plan though? By sending out these phishing emails, they're likely only going to get the log ins for inactive accounts, which are useless unless they're gonna drop money to resub them.
I guess some people are silly enough to click a "reactivate my account" link, even when they know their account is active.
