Starting today and ending on May 15, 2010 IÆm sponsoring a leadership competition within the Caldari Militia. My goal is simply to bring the militia together for the common good of the Caldari State.
We gain nothing by fighting amongst ourselves while the enemy grows stronger. We must put aside our differences and come together as one people united for a common cause. Then and only then will we defeat the Gallente.
IÆll explain the guidelines for the competition in a future post. Suffice it to say that at the end of the competition someone will be awarded a billion ISK.

Today was a good day for the militia. I had the benefit of being part of a well orchestrated 50 man fleet. While our initial objective was to roam we were fortunate enough to gain new intelligence. A pirate gang was taking down a POS in low-sec about six jumps out. The FC made a timely decision to head directly for the POS. To make a long story short, we killed approximately ten battleships, a carrier and a dreadnought. It was a very good morale booster for those who participated and a good incentive for other militia members to join our fleets. X up!!!

ItÆs funny to me that the first person to respond to this post is the very person saying thereÆs no need to unify our militia. Correct me if IÆm wrong please!!! What IÆve seen since rejoining the CM is a general lack of desire to join fleets. There are only a few truly active players that go out and fight the GM. On average if thereÆs 150 in militia chat 10-20 will respond to a fleet invite. I would think that the pilots out running faction missions would welcome clearing out some of the war targets and pirates. There are also a few ôexclusiveö fleets out roaming around. While I understand the school of thought behind this I see more clearly the fatal flaw. If we donÆt welcome our new members and train them in fleet tactics weÆll never see our full potential.
If IÆm way off base IÆd appreciate you guys letting me know. I hate to think that Steve Celeste is the voice of the Caldari Militia.
Quote of the day: ôLike i care about a pathetic billionö.

I'd like to start this post off by saying thank you, Tvol, for seeing the same problem that I have over my few recent days as part of the militia after a long break - and deciding to do something about it.
I have seen time and again us lose ships and even whole fleets to inferior numbers, but isk can be remade and ships can be repurchased. What is more important is morale - and there is an honestly depressing lack of it. The militia that I remember for steamrolling the Gallente back to their highsec, boldly standing their ground when carriers got hotdropped on us, and proudly plowed right towards any gal fleet that was to be found is seemingly dead - replaced instead with many too caught up in fear of losing a ship to remember the fundamental purpose of all of this - to have a good time.
I have promised a few individuals (particularly those that came along with me a few days ago looking for a fight win or lose - we lost, btw, and enjoyed every minute of it anyway) that I will begin running roaming gangs for those interested above all else in getting together and blowing some stuff up. I still plan to do this in the coming days, and hope many of you decide to come along. However, happy as I was that anyone was willing to fly with me when I'm relatively unknown to the current populace, I am far more glad to see so many others stepping up simultaneously to do exactly the same thing. From Ramjet's "we are going to fight and lose" fleet to Hidden Snake's RR bs fleet where we all got blown up fighting instead of running away and leaving stragglers to die, I have seen more of everything I had thought gone at first in the past 3 days than I thought possible.
I know some may read what I have written and say "why does suiciding help anyone if we end up losing more than them?" To anyone who wonders that, fairly I may add, the answer is simple: we lose isk and ships, yes - but we gain something immeasurable - a renewed enjoyment of fighting, and the destruction of the fear associated with losing - and through that our active numbers will swell for the best possible reason.
Thank you, then, to not only Tvol, but to all those who have stepped up when most needed - to all of you I owe my own renewed desire to bring the Caldari militia back to its former glory. Regardless of the "winner" of this contest, the real winner will be the Caldari militia in whole if we all do our parts. Good luck to everyone who intends to do their best for the militia, may the best leader win, and may the killboards be littered with the fruit of all our efforts!

I must say that moralle is increasing a lot in past 3 months. Believe me it was much worse, before we started the campaign.
Despite the fact, that some of my corpmates reserved here, I will not participate. Reasons are simple - I am their CEO, I cannot be bought for 1 bil, I do not trust man offering 1 bill for free and nobody will change our long term strategy just because of some 1 bil price (which is not too much anyway).
No offence to the OP, but I am like this .... and still it is worthy so far

So what about the FC's who do not fly in the same TZ as you? They are **** out of luck? Interesting way to promote togetherness in the militia.

I understand your point. However, IÆm not trying to buy anyone. IÆm simply bringing attention to the matter at hand. We need more people willing to participate in Militia Ops. I donÆt want anyone to change their strategy either, I just want to see more of it.
Incidentally, if a billion ISK is ônot too much money anywayö why donÆt you throw a billion toward the cause?
Like Amaeros said, the whole point is to have fun. We may as well kill the Gallente while weÆre at it.

I vote Evil Synns to get the 1 billion isk.
Who else could lead a wing of the caldari into battle ( while still being in gallente militia )
Result was 39 battleships killed , plus support.
The battle at wolfy pos in tama still makes me smile.
