Ok, I won't ask the ever-so-common "Is it worth it", because I already know the answer.
So I'll ask this: If I'm a Caldari Shield tanker, how helpful will it be to me to train the Armor Compensation (?) skills? I figure if I got into armor I'm ****ed anyways, but maybe it could give me a few extra seconds to warp? Plus I need it if I ever want to armor tank?
Did I just answer my own question?

Yes, you should train it if you plan on fitting mods that it affects on your ship. The question really is, why would you fit a mod that if affects on a shield tanked ship.

You need an armor resist mod, just plain getting past your shield if you do not have any armor resist mods will not have this skill influence armor resist values. And dual tank = fail , so tank your shield OR your armor.

yes it's a plus because if you tank your armor and add an armor resist mod, you would like to put all bonuses you can to it so it increase your EHP.

Wait, do the skills only affect mods? I thought they raised your base attributes for all ships.

I'd say, train them at least to lv IV. That's only 1 day or so for each of the 4 of them, and you'll be happy you did so when the times comes (and it will) when you'd like to cross-train a bit for another race, and you're no longer remapped for intel + mem. -- Gorgeous, delicious, deculture! |

Also, note that armor compensation skills only affect passive modules (like energized adaptive nano membranes), active hardeners are not affected by them unless turned off.

Correct. And as mentioned, they only affect passive modules e.g. Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II.

It's worth it for your PVP Scorpion.

Or if you fly other racial ships.
For example, I'm by no means an expert in combat or armor tanking, but I can pilot all T1 frigates. It was just so fast to train the basics that I couldn't... erm... resist.

Dual tank works if you're doing something very specific with it. Say, a semi-weak active shield rep on top of an armor buffer. Makes a nice bait, and can keep people engaged until it's too late.
The armor resist skills will help you more if you're planning to segway into one of the armor tanking factions (Minmatar/Amarr/Gallente). Since you're Caldari shield tanking, don't train the skills until you have a potential use for them.
Go for agility if you want a faster align ^^
