As the most primaried battlecruiser, we're understandably wary of bringing these sexy ships out to fleet battles, as they always die first.
I have a plan to change all this.
From now on, fit all your Brutixes (Brutixi?) with a full armor buffer, shield mods in the mids, and smartbombs in the highs. This has several benefits:
You will still be primaried, but as you have a phat tank you will be soaking up DPS that would otherwise be hurting the rest of your fleet. Your smartbombs will take out the entire enemy fleet's drones (and maybe some tacklers) early on in the fight. If enough of us do this, FCs will stop calling Brutixes primary, and we will all live happily ever after.

Maybe you shouldn't let us know that you are going to do this in advance. But then maybe you want us to know. But then we could know that you know that we know.

Yes, I too am desperate to kill a ship which takes no skill to kill in order to pad my kb and loot the relatively worthless mods!

Guys guys lets play nice now and stay on topic. This is a call to arms for all Brutix pilots. If you know of any, please pass word on to them. It will help the pilots themselves, as they will be less primaried after a while, and it will increase their usefulness in your fleets.

This is something that can work in gangs.
Have something like a Falcon (108k EHP), Rook (109kEHP), Scorpion(150k still with 4 jammers) or other high priority ship and just mass buffer it. Pull the focus from other ships onto a heavily tanked one.
Of course the effectiveness of this can be debaitable. It can work sometimes, and not work others ------------------------

This trick works surprisingly often. Have a guardian and a damnation in gang. Buffer the guardian to the eyeballs and giggle as the enemy waste time primarying it. ---------- Who, me? |

Especially so if the original FC has to leave the field/is destroyed. If he can't see what's going on, he's simply going to continue primarying the buffered ship, and lay the blame of it's survival on people not shooting it ------------------------

Not quite Brutices lol

...so Brutixes will do just fine

let's see a shield buffer means a huge sig and armor buffer means plate's which kills speed and agility . I could kill nothing I could catch nothing and nothing shot at me could possibly miss... I would rather spend the time that this would take slamming my face in a hot oven door. Much better to fit the ship correctly and warp in on tackled targets apply blistering DPS and get on to the next target or get out .

According to you, in a fleet fight, a standard Brutix with 50,000 EHP and 800 DPS will be more beneficial to your fleet than a lobrutix that takes twice as long to kill and takes out the enemy fleets drones in the process.

Edited by: Krikx on 27/04/2010 18:54:46 Just to see how well of a buffer you could get I decided to play around with EFT. I am a Brutix pilot. Disclaimer I will not be flying this myself. I will stick with my Shield Buffer Gank setup as I think it's better to be putting down 950DPS on a single target that will soon not be putting out any DPS then 75 DPS on a bunch of drones that amount to relatively little DPS overall int he fight.
With the following fit and LvL 5 skills you can get 100K EHP with shields and Armor combined. Armor resists are 67.6+ Rainbow and 14K armor so with a good logi pilot you could hold out for a while.
You only do 75DPS with smart bombs. A medium hammerhead II drone with lvl 5 skills has 1400 not counting resist. Most of the HP comes from structure so I am going to assume 0% resist so in a fight it would actually be slightly more. At 75DPs that is going to take you 18 seconds to kill a hammerhead drone.
To put that in persective a standard GankShield Buffer has 807 DPS(not counting drones as both use the same drones). So the Big buffer posted below will be doing similar DPS if smart bombing 10 or more drones. Each set of drones you continue to attack after that increases your DPS.
With all this being said. GankBrutix resist aren't that much lower then the fit below. If you have a Logi pilot keeping you alive with one fit then they probably are for going to be able to for both, one needing armor reps and the other needing shield reps. Without a Logi neither brutix is going to survive very long. I'd imagine the below fit won't survive long enough under focus fire to actually pop any drones. If you don't start popping drones then you were more or less useless in the fight because no one else should be focusing on them.
Edit: If you remove a single target from the field doing 800 DPS you'd have to elimiate 5 sets of 5 hammerhead II's from the field to have elimated the equivilant amount of DPS. Non-ship bonused sets of 5 hammerheads does 158DPS.
[Brutix, Buffer/Resist] Damage Control II 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Armor Explosive Hardener II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Invulnerability Field II Invulnerability Field II
Medium Proton Smartbomb II Medium Graviton Smartbomb II Medium EMP Smartbomb II Medium Plasma Smartbomb II [empty high slot] [empty high slot] [empty high slot]
Medium Ancillary Current Router I Medium Trimark Armor Pump I Medium Trimark Armor Pump I
Hammerhead II x5
TL:DR You'd have to really get swarmed by a TON of drones and surive long enough to actually kill them to be useful and you won't survive much longer then a standard Brutix fit.

youll be dead before my drones get to you . put what ever tank you want on your brutix . it will die . youd be better off fitting stabs and warping out to rep and come back . or just bring a frig .
edit : the kadeshi does not support the use of stabs

100k EHP, 131 smartbomb DPS *your invulns are going to be overheated, as you're planning on dying anyways* You can also order your smartbombs in an optimal fashion (I have not worked out this method completely yet, but the idea is em for shields then exp for armor) so your damage is barely getting reduced by resists. A max skilled Hammerhead II will die after a second volley, exactly 7.5 seconds after engagement.
edit: please share your 950 DPS Brutix fit :DD

Medium smart bombs aren't effective at killing anything other than drones. If you want more survivability in a fleet go with a railgun fit - you can still get 500+ DPS out of it.
