Frequently, I see people putting together multi-billion dollar ships for running level 4's. While this can make sense in the long run because of the improved comfort and speed with which you can run the missions, I'm somewhat concerned about doing the same with strategic cruisers.
I've come across a legion setup that I'm quite fond of, but I'm concerned that its low EHP makes it too dangerous to fly in hisec.
What do strategic cruiser pilots do to discourage suicide ganks? What is the maximum isk that one can reasonably spend before painting a target on the side of your ship? How much EHP is enough to dissuade a gank?
I'd really rather not have my shiny new ship be a pirate's new favorite killmail.

This fit was posted somewhere (though I can't remember where, sorry) that was supposedly quite effective in that it was non-probeable (sp?).
To achieve this you would need Legion Electronics Subsystem lvl 5 OR minimum lvl 2 plus LG Grail implant set (slot 1-5). Tank and weapons could be your choice but the highlighted mods/sub are essential...
[Legion, Unprobeable Mission] Corpum A-Type Medium Armor Repairer Centus C-Type Armor Thermic Hardener Centus C-Type Armor EM Hardener Corelum C-Type Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane RADAR Backup Array II Imperial Navy Capacitor Power Relay Imperial Navy Heat Sink
10MN Afterburner II Large Capacitor Battery II ECCM - Radar II ECCM - Radar II
Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M Heavy Pulse Laser II, Scorch M
Medium Auxiliary Nano Pump II Medium Nanobot Accelerator II
Legion Propulsion - Fuel Catalyst Legion Offensive - Liquid Crystal Magnifiers Legion Engineering - Capacitor Regeneration Matrix Legion Electronics - Dissolution Sequencer Legion Defensive - Nanobot Injector
Disclaimer: I personally have no experience with Legion as I fly an un-probeable Tengu, just passing along info

If someone is going to try to suicide gank your T3, they'll do it at a gate.
I'd suggest staying far away from mission hubs.
But for the record, I only changed my sig because I was annoying myself with the last one.

hmm..against haulers and the like, yes - but against mission boats?....unlikely.
Personally I would be more inclined to engage in a mission room where you could maximise the Concord response time and use the NPC dps to your own advantage (also avoids looters) hence the reason my Tengu is un-probeable.
side note: ninja looters really crack me up when they probe out my salvage cane and try to get me to engage....what am I going to do? Salvage their ship to death?!

If you don't want people suicide ganking you then don't use anything better than T2 modules. Once you start getting into faction and above it doesn't matter how much EHP you have the gankers will commit necessary resources to kill you if you have 30k EHP or 200K EHP. Suicide gankers in most cases are looking for a profit so having modules that are worth 1B+ on their own will make you a huge target. --

While making the T3 unprobeable is an interesting approach, it seems like any advantage that might be gained by using faction modules is more than used up by the effort.
I guess the best advice is probably just to stick to T2 modules. Still, the legion really benefits from a nice A-type armor repairer and faction heat sinks. I guess I'll have to think about it.

Go ahead and gimp your fitting. I'll catch you on gate and scan your ship at a station. And don't worry about expensive fittings. I've suicided an unfit one just for the laughs. Stop thinking of it as safe space. And even when insurance gets nerfed I'll still do it if it seems like fun. Yes yes kicking sand in faces. Immature. My 15 bucks says I make my own amusment collecting mails of rage the likes of which I have never seen before eve. Also, unsuspended after calling someone dumb and it being called a personal attack and suspended for 3 months.

Oh look, school must be out early today.
Come catch my Proteus if you're such a bad-ass suicide ganker Jess. You can find me kicking around Genesis usually.

You know, he sounds pretty dangerous for someone in an NPC corp. You might want to watch out.
