Marauders should be the ultimate battle ship, instead they are the ultimate carebear ship. They're supposed to be "versitile" and yet I cannot fit a vargur which is as well rounded as a Maelstrom. They can only ever equal a Maelstrom's firepower. If you tank fit them, they sacrifice vital high slots and a lot of firepower.
They just don't fit their description at all. Make them good for PvP, not mission running carebears! It is impossible to make a fit on them which is worthy of PvP.

Wut?
Oh, and your very first point is in fact wrong.
Marauders should be the ultimate carebearing ship, with potential PVP use rather than the other way round; CCP have said so themselves.

Marauders get a bonus to tractor beams, how much more does that tell you its for PVP? Marauders will be buffed as soon as all you pod jocks start using more HACs, Recons, ect. The ships built for PVP but are avoided most of the time because the hit to the wallet is nothing after insurance on T1 hulls. Marauders also have a weakness, ship sensor strength. Enjoy getting jammed by a flight of ECM drones.

I tried Vargur for pvp a few times. It tanks very well. Other than that - nothing special And in PvP, tanking is just half the battle.
Paladin and Kronos have a critically important bonus: 90% web capability. So they can tackle like no other battleship
Other than that, Vargur is annoyingly slow, bloated, whale of a ship, with poor sensors. It's just annoying to fly, that's all

Marauders are pretty much fail at everything except null ratting. They're very good at that.

Nothing is impossible. They are terrifying when you fit one right for PvP. The reasons you wont see them as much is with current insurance, they don't offer enough over a Maelstrom/Phoon/Pest to warrant the ISK loss when it finally goes pop.
Being they are the only turret based marauder that can utilise 100% of it's cap for propulsion and tanking, they are one of my favourites for sustainability in a fight. That massive tank and Maelstrom level damage has to be balanced by the cost and the low sensor strength of the ship or everyone would be rolling around in unkillable blobs of 50 of them.

Exactly. The Vargur isn't aweful as a PvP ship, but why would you want one when you can get the same results of DMG from a Mael, and only slightly better tanking?
