It means they are paying attention, to their credit. I'm assuming you're cloaked 24/7 like you should be? Either way, you have to catch a ratter with low observational skills who doesn't notice you in local. It's a fairly hard task in most cases.

Catching a ratter in a Pilgrim is not an easy task for two reasons:
A. You aren't very fast while cloaked and you can't activate a speed mod while cloaked, so a fast ratter with AB/MWD will be hard to catch.
B. When you decloak, you have to wait 5-6 seconds before you can even start locking, giving the enemy ship something around the area of 10-12 seconds of time to warp away.
To counter this and get to the target, you can make use of the asteroids and the fact you can warp cloaked. Try to determine which direction the target is moving to and how fast, and which asteroids are close to that trajectory. Bookmark it, warp away and warp back in, the direction of your warp may matter if have to warp in at distance.
As for killing the target, get up close, say 3-5km, decloak, hit your AB/MWD and bump the target as hard as you can. Keep bumping if possible and hope you can delay a warp out long enough to get a scram. After that, it should be easy, as any turret boat (especially laser boats) fall easily to a properly flown and fitted Pilgrim, although they don't fall very fast.

If it's a macro ratter, or someone who pays attention to local it's impossible... you appear in local before your grid loads, therefore when ratter sees you in local and initiates warp, he can easily warp out by the time you get to the belt and that's assuming you know which belt he is in. He will cloak and eventually log off if you stay there, or logoff immediately if he doesn't have a cloak.
one way to do this is to stay cloaked in system, be patient while he logs in sees you in local, logs back off, then logs back on decides you are afk and starts ratting again. Then you go and catch him but that relies on the carelessness of the ratter.
second way is to rely on scrambler frigs in belts...
third way is go around in fleets and belt crash... but he can still warp out in time if he is careful.
and YES OH YES VOTE FOR 0.0 LOCAL NERF

Check the anomalies in a system where they are upgraded, bookmark the ones being done, go to next system, repeat, jump back and immediatly warp to an anomaly, hope you are there in time.
Oh and vote against removal of local if you want to keep any targets. Making 0.0 a duckshoot just leads to pve'ers moving to lvl 4 missions. (I am personally in favour of removing local as intel tool, but ONLY in combination with significant changes to both the pve content and scanner mechanics, just removing local will break alot more than it fixes).

Two ways.
1. Warp to belt at 10 and stay there cloaked forever till they decide to leave or come in and spam scanner. If in recon that's different but you might as well just wait for them to come to you. Probably they will leave system tbh.
2. Warp to belt and log off then log back in and roll the dice that they are in the belt. Just as bad as jumping in and warping to a belt but meh.
In the end, an observant farmer will be almost impossible to nab. |

My impression is that wormholes are not devoid of carebears. They just tend to be the rabid variety.
No local means a pirate out to ruin a ratter's day also needs to do more homework to determine if the target is going to have quick backup or not. Seems balanced to me.

Keep in mind that 'Local as Intel' is just as useful to the people trying to hunt down 'ratters as it is to the 'ratters.

Exactly. It takes more time to determine if there's even a target worth ganking in the system. It seems to be a perfect balance of pros and cons, and totally worth doing.

True, i entirely need to check npc kills in last hour or just the sov upgrades, or just knowing the upgraded systems, that is gonna take me like 5 seconds to find out where the ratters are.
And stop making bad comparisons to WH space, as soon as i make twice as much in 0.0 and you need to scan down gates + they connect to random systems you can remove local too, until then dont make the comparison.
The only result is easy kills for a while, quickly followed by a nice wasteland without any kills to be found. One day you will learn that in the end asking for easy kills wont result in actually getting more kills.
