Hello everyone,
you might or might not know the Blog of Gevlon, the greedy Goblin. in his latest post Effect of griefing on Victims he suggests for someone who ganks someone else to point 'em to other people that can help 'em to not being ganked by you.
Quote:So if you don't want to spend the rest of your life with idiots and sheep, next time you see a moron, defeat him, then point him to the guy or group who can help him. If you have no better idea, simply mail him the list of the people you failed to gank.
His suggestion on who to send the victim to are kinda provoking me to make this post, and suggest to you, dear pirates, to actually go a step further. Follow his advice and point your victims to someone, but rather than picking someone, send them to the Author of that Blog.
Ingame that would be this guy: Gevlon Goblin. I'm sure hes looking forward to getting all those help requests :) |

If they want help they will seek it. Otherwise they can keep believing that their dual LAR domi will tank a suicide gank. Ohh lets add in ASB into that now too, wonder how many hulk pilots thought they could tank a suicide gank that way
Those who wish for knowledge ask for it and they get it, but it is more common for them to whine and complain and call pirates griefers and start trying to get "X" nerf to make it more like WoW. Welcome to Eve. Everyone here is an Evil Sick Sadistic Bastard who is out to get you. Anyone who tells you otherwise is either trying to scam you or use you. |

Okay, then please help. How can I survive a planned suicide ganking with a Hulk/Mack in highsec (0.5/0.6)?
Being pre-aligned to a station or planet won't help, those ships take far too long to accelerate to warp. Running a d-scan every 10 seconds or so? Great idea. I'm not mining in highsec to have that much efford. Being in a fleet, with (hired or corp) security? And who will force the gankers to use their smartbombs far away from the miners until the security guys can kill them? (okay, t2 ECM ships stand a good chance to jam some alpha-strike BCs, but not hordes of destys or smartbombers)
So... I'm seeking help, if the posters here so far can't give me any, who could? |

Being aligned means when you hit warp you warp. If it takes you time to accelerate, you arent aligned. |

So, you mean I should constantly be running towards a station/gate or celestial? Meaning, unless I have a webber (that'll be another pilot that can't mine or at least wants something for the time spent, significantly reducing yield), I'll have to realign after about each cycle. Pick another suitable target that'll keep me in range of the rock(s), that won't get me too close to those same rocks... If I wanted that, I could just as well go to low. (not to mention that if the gankers plan carefully and have a cloaked scout, I'll be just as screwed since they only need to time it to my turning) Apart from "put as much efford into it as you would need to in low/null" (possibly even less in null with the right sov), while having the income of highsec mining, any other suggestions? |

Yield, yield, profit, profit, yield, time, is all you here from the majority of miners. Join a real mining corp and get fleet boosts and bonus' to your precisous yield tank and errything else. This is an mmo there are real people besides you who play it. And most of these people want to kill you due to your ease of killing and your horrid profession. I suggest you start playing EvE like its an mmo and HTFU with a couple fiends around you. Do you plan on mining forever? If so, You have a very long, grueling career ahead of you.
Ninjedit: Effort. Example: I put huge effort into not getting ganked. Which you obviously do not.
I usually do not point out spelling. But your asking for help, And how could people help someone who isnt even willing to put forth the effort to help themselves. |

I'm not running an untanked Hulk, already survived an arty BS before the ganking BCs were introduced, something I wouldn't have survived untanked. But the potential losses involved were pretty much equal, right now, even if you use 2 BCs for a sure kill, you'll lose less than the Hulk is worth. Also, I am usually mining with Orca support in the belt, often along with others - but not always, thanks to timezone issues and more casual players that aren't on each and every day.
All I'm saying is, mining the way it is now is more of a laid-back playing style, with slow bricks of ships (relatively). So of course people are mostly sitting there semi-idle and doing something else on the side. Give me a fast, agile ship with short cycles and the (roughly) same yield as the Exhumers and barges now, maybe even add impact damage from stray 'roids, and I'll be happy since swooping around rocks while you mine the ones you want would be more of an active playing style, and definitely a whole lot of fun. Right now, I'll rather run some missions for the active playing (and no, not just sitting there and spewing cruise missiles), better ISK, more fun - but EVE does essentially offer both concepts, or at least they appear and advertise to do so. |

Just.. lol. Mining isn't mean't to be played afk, thats how ships upgrade to pods and sometimes you find yourself in a station needing to upgrade your clone again.
The best advice I can give and I'm not even a miner. - You want to sit in a relatively quiet system with low player count, checking the killboards of those in system. (Most suicide Hulk gankers like to lul and show off to their friends on battleclinic/eve-kill) If you find you are in a system with one of these gankers, find a new system, rinse, and repeat.
If you want to earn money mostly afk or offline then do PI. Those standing fleets guarding you arn't earning nearly as much isk protecting you as it pays off ganking and salvaging your silly hulks. |

Sounds like you forgot about the second part of the Crucible changes. Pre-crucible, a Gank BS cost ~20m to lose after insurance. Now you lose ~100m per Tornado.
So, potential losses are much higher now than pre-Crucible (true of DPS ganks, as well, with a T1 fit Thorax or Brutix cost significantly less to lose than the T2 fit catalyst that it takes to replicate that DPS). EvE: Everyone vs Everyone
