I'm sure that this has been discussed before but to me, it's big. You need something good in this area, it has a big impact.
I think it's an almost perfect match. Brian Eno. The music of Brian Eno. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMXaE9NtQgg

This particular track is suited to the Eve environment but Eno has very few tracks that could be used imo.
The problem with using recognised artists is the legal tape they come with. Every artist wants to get paid for their efforts - which is fair, so the method of payment for a game like Eve would be a minefield. At the end of the day it could cost you more to play and that may not help the business
Personally - Beck is doing it for me atm - the man makes a guitar a living thing

Topgear used that last series, was fantastic (although that specific item caused some major worries amongst TG followers). I love it though.

Yeah obviously, why would I be talking about officially? I meant for your personal use.

Thanks! I love the music in EVE and I'm always on the lookout for something similar.
If you like "combat" music in EVE, then check out the Chemical Brothers. They have a somewhat similar sound. |

Eheheheheh.
That's like saying you should check out techno, because they use synthesizers.
Sooo. Settings Sun? Block Rockin' Beats? F* Up Beats? Too Many Mornings?
These are all from Chemical Brothers, and I don't remember hearing anything like that in EVE.

ItĘs not tears for fears and I know itĘs been done on other games but this song always plays in the back of my headą the tempo and inflection seem right for PVP maybe because I get shot a lotą Madness
Tbh IĘve been on this for a bitą donĘt know why but I like it and although probably not the norm it works for me. I Don't smoke!

Well, if you fancy annoying the neighbours you can try Pink Floyd: Interstellar Overdrive at full volume. Being drunk is recommended.

Edited by: trevormax on 02/05/2010 09:10:33 I actually listen to the sound track of another game when PVEing in EVE. Indipendance War 2 Edge Of Chaos. They give a good feeling of being out in open space.
Edge Of Chaos 1 Edge of Chaos 2 Edge of Chaos 3
If I am PVPing then usually don't listen to anything.

Am I the only person that thinks the EVE soundtrack is actually awesome?
I turned it back on a couple of months ago after years of playing in silence and I've never looked back, it's win and reminds me of the better days when I was a noob in a frigate

One Too Many Mornings, not so much, but the first three have the sort of "big beat electronica" sound of the EVE_Rock_01-5 tracks. (The tracks you usually hear when you go through an acceleration gate into an in-game "dungeon", mission or complex. EVE_Rock_05 has a lot in common with Block Rockin' Beats, for instance.) |

An Ending is one of the most beautiful things put to media, ive loved this tune after finding it at the ending of one of the Medicated Man 'stories'. Listening while stoned the story blends out in its abstract way and finishes with the full 4 minutes of this and it just works wonderfully. Took a bit of luck to find out it was Eno though.
I find Cardarmar does nicely too. Try a few mixes sometime.
