Edited by: Grimpak on 02/05/2010 08:59:07 lemme get this straight:
this mobo supports 2 hexas, each of the hexas has ramslots for themselves (maxing out at an impressive 48gb ram).
if that wasn't enough, it also has seven pci-e slots that go upwards to 16x, that can go for quad-sli, something that ONLY a few cases can handle.
seems however, that it's only SLI-capable, so it's not overkill, yet.
if that thing can handle with CXF, however...
it's really not overkill tho, more like future-proof.
....in the scale of the decade or so ---

tbh, looks like they rebranded a server motherboard (since dual-CPU is much more common there).
Not to say that it's not an impressive piece of kit, but it's not really a new innovation on their part.

4x Nvidea 'Tesla' computation cards + 3x OCZ PCI-E solid state drives
If you are running some heavy duty supercomputing, such as part optimization for a Boeing 787, this board and cards are for you.
For the average user, there are some nice boards out there for the 200-400$ range which are loaded with high end features and single processors.

1200W PSU? I would think most people would have to rewire their house just so they can get the power to that thing.
One thing I did notice, the DDR3 stops at 1333Mhz, when there is much higher speed memory on the market. Maybe they didn't want to make it too awesome. -------------------------------- CCP can patch away bugs, but they can't patch away stupidity. |

Then they mush have had pretty pathetic wiring to start with. A hand-held blowdrier or a medium-to-large toaster easily eats up 1500W.
