I don't think anything has been done with the IGB since it was updated. I'm still holding out hope for drag and drops items into textboxes and other nifty features. To any devs reading this: is there any work being done with this? |

A. The server cluster has a hard enough time as it is pumping out data to clients. That's why we have the network hardware upgrades taking place next week. Bandwidth would be sucked dry if it had to handle streaming video on top of everything else. B. Do you really think a company with no real Quality Assurance department to speak of could make sound work from streaming videos? Think about it: EVE sound. C. Exploits. Be happy the IGB is as limited as it is. Opening up more ways for hackers to break into your EVE account isn't something anybody wants.
If CCP ever broke the IGB out of EVE proper and let it run as a separate process doing its own I/O to the audio subsystem in Windows/OSX then MAYBE it could be done. Don't hold your breath. Out-of-game browsers do youtube much better than CCP could ever hope to accomplish. And even if they could do it, you'd have to be a masochist to want it. |

What are you talking about? The IGB is already in it's own process. The data from the browser does not travel through the EVE cluster, it uses your local connection to the internet. Yeesh. And the browser can do anything modern browsers can do seeing as it's based on Chromium. But this thread is being derailed; I don't need to watch YouTube (would be nice) but I would like more functionality added to it. Since it's release, nothing of any great importance has been done with it. |

Yes it would be nice to add more functionnalities
An example: add in the trust system a way to access fleet data Like fleet ID, name, boss Would be a lot easier to do some fleet tracking system using IGB |

Id like to see the in game browser Menu system and bookmark system needs improving.
The menu can only list a small number of bookmarks its not dynamic or configurable. I can find a way to sort bookmarks in different ways.
Clicking and highlighting seems very clunky.
Its crazy that the forums do not function properly on the ingame browser, more due to the overcomplicated implementation of the forums. Clicking links brings up a yes no dialog, when you click yes nothing happens in the in game browser. Pop ups donGÇÖt appear.

Please kill yourself now. You have no idea what the IGB even is.
The IGB is an implementation of Chromium via the Awesomium toolkit. It creates separate processes of Chromium like Chrome to handle rendering to a buffer which the game then displays. Its isolated from the game. It can run all Chrome plugins like Chrome. If you look at the awesomium toolkit its capable of being used everywhere, there are examples of people actually display the browser pages on the terrain of game levels. |

I'm not sure what's different between what you're asking for and the fleet tracking IGB tools we already have. EVE's 4th of July Fireworks |

I know it's not 2004 so micro payments isn't the buzzword of the year any longer, but I still think payments would be a nice addition to the ingame browser.

Biggest improvement I can think of is the option to not use it and have clicked links open up the default browser.
I realize it's still useful kind of when playing with limited screen space, but I hate the fact that if I am not paying attention, it opens up the IGB.
Other than that, updating it to the new WebKit base code would probably be good, someday. (I have that right? It's a WebKit from several years ago?) EVE is a sandbox; The only "end-game" content in EVE is the crap that makes you rage-quit.

If it was really running in separate process(es) there would be no security issues. The fact remains that CCP has restricted the IGB's ability to run certain plugins - and that includes Flash - for SECURITY reasons. It ain't rocket science.

Actually they disabled all plugins not certain plugins, the Awesomium toolkit only gives one flag to change in regards to plugins. Honestly, at this point, simple webpages could do more damage than plugins due to the chromium backend being out of date every so often. |

But you guys do realize that CCP has blocked these plugins because they might have bugs which could cause problems, flash on its own had quite few bugs already, and allowing would make CCP responsible for patch delivery, and I'm really not surprised that they don't want to do this, there is no bigger pain that supporting software which is not owned by your company.
Drag and drop +HTML5 would be nice though. |

Alt-Tab, start Chrome? First world problems much? If you're gonna post here thinking your idea is the greatest thing since bacon and that it will save EVE and possibly all humankind with it, you're gonna have a bad time. |

I liked the old IGB better. Specialized pages were fine and the window was transparent. |
