Zealot has better tracking.... Munnin has better alpha-strike Zealot can field a better tank... Munnin can field a flight of light drones and has utility highs Zealot can snipe well in excess of 100km... Munnin is quite comfortable doing combat at either >80km or <20km (depending on how you fit it)
It really depends on what you prefer to do and how you conduct yourself in a battle. _______________________

Which is a better watchdog under 10lbs? A) Doesn't matter B) Doesn't matter C) Doesn't matter
There are only two effective snipers in EVE: Maelstrom and Tempest.

Zealot you can get greater distance and more DPS on similar kilometers as muninn. Muninn has a great alphastrike, so it really does get thuru all thos passive shield rechargers. Muninn is agile and fast compared to that phatty amarr thingie. If put to closerange setups that phatty amarr thingie will outtank and outdps the muninn, but the muninn will even armortanked outmanouver the zealot.

I'm not sure how you are fitting them, but they have identical optimal ranges with standard sniper fits, with the Muninn having much better falloff.
Optimal: 105 (Zealot), 105 (Muninn) Falloff: 16 (Zealot), 36 (Muninn) DPS without drones: 218 (Zealot), 290 (Muninn) Volley: 719 (Zealot), 1912 (Muninn) Effective Hitpoints: 24,875 (Zealot), 20,409 (Muninn)
Zealot does have a better "tank" but they are both paper thin with sniping fits. So, basically Muninn does less DPS, but also over double the alpha strike and falloff. I think both have their merits.
Sniper cane is an interesting option as well for the penny-pinchers. It doesn't have quite the range of the Zealot/Muninn, but does similar DPS at about 90km, has twice the tank, and is a fraction the cost (especially after insurance). |

Especially when fit with 1400mm Artillery II. More agile than any other 8 turret BS and the very same alpha strike as any 8 turret BS. -- Nah, that's just my Asperger's kickin' in.

These HAC sniper fits must not be for low sec since neither would do well under gate guns.

I've heard some people use war decs or join FW to acquire targets that can be shot at legally in low sec. -- Nah, that's just my Asperger's kickin' in.

Not people with low sec status.

Its also worth noting that if you're in a gang with logistics (shield specifically) the muninn may be a better choice because of the natural shield resistances, compared to the gaping EM/Thermal hole on the zealot.

Except this ignores the whole reason why you are using sniperhacs in the first place -- they are faster, more agile, hit smaller targets better, and snynergize with scimis and drake meatwalls.
@OP
I've tried both, and I prefer muninn. Alpha > DPS, and the zealot has a horrible hole at EM damage...which when you go head to head with other sniperhacs, a lot of them will be zealots. And a lot of people use EM damage against those types of fleets in general. Plus, I find the little flight of ECM drones is pretty handy.

^^ this. My instapop cane is my ship of choice when sitting on a safe spot off a gate in 0.0 or low sec.

I like to use Domination Nuclear because I can still engage at 71k but I still keep my alpha at 1800ish and Domi Nuclear is still fairly sane in price. I really don't like to use tremor unless using a munnin because the damage is just horrible unless in a gang. In situations where that range isn't quite as necessary, you can switch to RF Emp or Fusion and you keep your range at 50k and your alpha is nearly 2400. What I like most about this, is that because it's a hurricane, it keeps the enemy on its toes. He doesn't know if you're a sniper cane, a nano cane, armor AC cane... he just doesn't know. Also, you have the speed to be able to keep your target at range. Where most sniperHACs or other platforms rely on fast tackle to keep the enemy at range while they snipe, the sniper cane doesn't. It's fast enough to where it can keep most things at range on it's own or GTFO when needed. I love my sniper cane.
So. It's cheap. It's fully insurable (**** YOU T2 INSURANCE) It's fast. And it's a hurricane. And it's cheap/fully insurable.
@OP. I like the munnin personally. And I'll take a nano pest over a sniper mael anyday.
