I had an installation on one of my pc's that kept crashing so I decided to do a fresh install, downloaded the full installation since that has always seemed more reliable, and doubleclicked it to launch.
It goes into unpacking files and fails fairly quickly, it does:
Extracting EVE_Premium_Setup_127381.exe Extracting eveonline_127381.tz CRC failed in eveonline_127381.7z
Popup box says Some installation files are corrupt. Please download a fresh copy and retry the installation
Done that a couple of times and it fails, tried the other installation method of the small launcher which downloads the data and that fails too.
The filename that I've downloaded is EVE_Premium_Setup_127381_m filesize 2,559,177,447
Strange thing is the file doesn't change icon to the normal eve icon, it is the one that is square, white with a blue band at the top if that makes any sense.
Has anyone had a successful installation from this version?

This may have some relation to Tranquility's downtime. Keep an eye on the sticky above. Once the sticky is locked and Tranquility is up and running try installing again. If you have the same issue please update this thread.

Not sure why a CCP Rep would feel that a corrupted download is due to a server database problem?....
If it's failed the CRC check then the download is more than likely corrupt. Would it be possible for you to download the file again?...
There has been times when ccp's released corrupt installs, but this version has been out for long enough that one would doubt that's the problem.

Edited by: Emma Royd on 07/05/2010 13:24:58 I've tried a few times downloading the file, unless it does some strange online lookup to tranquility to validate the CRC which is a little odd. Even tried downloading it from another PC and putting it on a memory stick, still the same result.
ATM I'm copying an installation from another XP machine to put on so at least I can haz eve back when it's online
I will try it again later on this afternoon to see if it was a temporary glitch with the download file. +_+

Are you suffering from any other bad downloads on your pc?... I have dealt with some new routers (HI NETGEAR MOFOS) that seem to do a great deal of chopping of data ;(... Also did you download the file directly or use the crappy torrent? ----------- Never Forget the joy of finding a main to link to a scammer alt. N-y-p-h-u-r ! ! |

So its not just him. again im talking about the full download, not the installer -------

I've been downloading the full client direct from CCP not a torrent, hopefully if the client I've copied from another PC works all will be well with the world.
I'm using a new to me (not new, my brother gave it to me when I upgraded to gigabit lan) netgear router, my old router was also netgear, I'm not sure how to check if it's chopping data etc short of putting the old one back in.
Can anyone at CCP (I know you're busy atm feeding hamsters etc) let me know how big the file should be?

I will try to download it later to see if it's corrupt, my isp limits my daytime downloads to 1.5 gig (sigh)....
Def sounds like a big problem if more than one person is suffering, it's a HUGE file to download just to find it's corrupt.

There are a number of other people reporting the same problems in the issues and known work around forum (I am one of them as I get this every time I try to install on my desktop).
Most seam to be running 64bit with Vista or windows 7. Macrointel, the place were the nature order of the universe does not hold sway. Pirates and ore thief's are congratulated by carebears for the actions. |
