I prepose creation of a new Rig, a" Rig Slot Modifier".
These when installed would create 2 new rig slots for each rig slot used. For instance, if you had them plugged into the 3 existing slots...you would have a total of 6 new available rig slots.
This would allow an unprecedented level of customization to the existing ships of Eve. It would be a game changer. You could never be sure of the capabilities of any ship you came up against.
And I have to believe that from a programming standpoint, this would be alot easier than designing dozens of new ships from scratch. You'd need new graphics for the fitting screen, but other than that, it would mostly be a matter of re-working the math.
I really think this is doable and would be of massive benefit to the game.
What would you plug in, if you had "6" rig slots...think about it.

So with my new doubler rig I will have 6 rigs, which I will fill to have 12 rigs, which I then fill with shield and speed rigs because they require little calibration.
And what would be the balancing effect? Halving bonus while keeping the penalty? 75% of the bonus with the same penalty?

6 rigs, not 12
And I would leave it to CCP to work out the details...I can't be expected to do everything

I believe he meant fitting each of the split rig slots with a splitter so the first 6 split slots become 12.

CCP already worked out... never heard about calibration limit ?
You will not be able to put rigs into your extra slots.

You are correct, I was doubling twice, without calibration, can you see what it would do to t2 ships?
Even with 100 calibration, this is a major issue, the low calibration rigs will be much more powerful.
For instance: 1 such rigs is installed, making 4 rig slots, with 300 calibration left, this could mean a 150 and three 50 cal rigs, or 2 100 and 2 50 cal rigs.
This favours shield and speed over armor and energy or weapons rigs, making it useful for a very narrow amount of pilots.
If you raise such an idea, you are somewhat required to fill in the details, that way we can know whether or not it will be powerful and/or useful. Details make all the difference.
I could vote for this if it had both 100 calibration and 75% effect of the newly installed rigs with full drawback, but don't think the change in code is easy, and frankly better used in other ways

You would only be able to use the modifier in the "original" rig slots, not in subsequent rig slots you created.
And with regards calibration..as I said , the math would have to be reworked. If your doubling slots...then double the calibration.
And yes...I'm sure there are things I haven't considered, but thats sort of the point of this forum...to discuss those issues.
