I'm trying out this Myrm build. Please tell me what you think. I'd like to do Lvl 3 missions without running away all the time. I havnt tried them since I made this new build.
[Myrmidon, kujg]
2x 200mm 'Scout' I Accelerator Cannon (Iron Charge M) 3x 200mm 'Scout' I Accelerator Cannon (Lead Charge M) Drone Link Augmentor I
4x Cap Recharger II Y-S8 Hydrocarbon I Afterburners
Armor Explosive Hardener I Armor Kinetic Hardener I Armor Thermic Hardener I Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane I 2x Medium Armor Repairer II
Medium Ancillary Current Router I 2x Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I
5x Hammerhead I 10x Hammerhead I
The Current Router is left over from when I was using neutron blasters because of a power overrun. I aim to get to this as skills come in:
[Myrmidon, Myrm 2]
2x 200mm 'Scout' I Accelerator Cannon (Iron Charge M) 3x 200mm 'Scout' I Accelerator Cannon (Lead Charge M) Drone Link Augmentor I
Y-S8 Hydrocarbon I Afterburners 4x Cap Recharger II
Armor Explosive Hardener II Armor Kinetic Hardener II Armor Thermic Hardener II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II 2x Medium Armor Repairer II
Medium Ancillary Current Router I 2x Medium Capacitor Control Circuit II
10x Hammerhead I 5x Hammerhead I
Thanks for your comments.

Looking at your fit a few things become glaringly apparent:
~ get a Damage Control Unit (there is no stacking penalty and you won't instapop when you go into structure) ~ get your armor skills up and fit tech 2 hardeners (you won't last very long without them) ~ get your drone skills up (using tech 1 drones on a droneboat make me die a little inside... they also won't do much to help you) ~ vary your drone compliment (Hammerheads are nice against cruiser/battlecruiser level targets but a little on the slow side against frigates... throw some Hobgoblins and a flight of Valkyries while you're at it (Valks are good against Angels, the only rats that thermal damage won't do much against))
After this it becomes a matter of what you will be using it for. For PvE your mids are, for the most part, fine. Your low slots need a bit of work (pro-trip, use "rat-specific" hardeners). Your highs, well... since Myrmidons don't get a bonus for guns it is a matter of taste. I like to put Autocannons or Artillery on mine as they don't consume cap and have lower fitting requirements.
Hope this helps _______________________

Edited by: Omir Kajil on 09/05/2010 07:50:05 This looks quit similar to my own myrmidon fit m8. Definately going for the t2 hardeners myself... I second that on the autocannons, i can fit 6 x 425mm ac's no problem. Also since it'll require less powergrid consider an auxilliary nano pump as it adds to an armor repair bonus that you already have with the BC skill.
I'm not exactly a veteran but this is just what has worked for me. With 2 nano pumps I could tank my Corp CEO's drake fitted with t2 ham's
edit: wrong gun named But I digress. This one time at fat camp, i was flying a dominix, and then I was so hungry that i ate 3 planets and collapsed into a black hole, which ate my sig. |

To be honest, if this is solely for lvl.3's then the passive shield tank is imo superior.
On the wrong pc to post a fit atm, but I'm sure someone will soon.
With a good passive tank Myrm, you should never have to warp out of a mission ever again. Will also tank some Lvl'4's .
Does mean training up shield skills of course, however if missions are your thing then shield skills+ Caldari boats is no bad path to consider.

use specific hardeners for the mission, for example if you have a mission against serpentis use 2 thermic hardener and 2 kinetic hardener. tis alone will give you alot of more tank. train battlecruiser skill at least to 4 so the rep bonus start to become relevant.
Medium Capacitor Control Circuit II are expen$ive.

Swap out hardeners as needed, but for most L3s it's a walk in the park. If you're running non-Guristas L3 Blockade and don't really care about aggro, you can speed tank by perma-running the AB by taking out either the TE or a Gyrostab for a CR.
One bad thing about Myrmidons in general is the delay in engagement due to drones and you having to chase targets due to the limited weapons range (even with artillery/rails). That's why people love the Drake (60-65km targeting & weapons range). When compared to L4s, the L3 missions are a little out of whack when you consider the ships that supposed to do them and how far the NPCs are spaced within the mission. There will be a very many L3s that 60-65km ship engagement will save you time.
One last thing, the Tengu is god for L3s |

The thing I do not like about the Drake is it feels like an IWIN button, and IO'd rather avoid that route, plus I'm gallente and it just feels so wrong

Edited by: The Huffarunier on 09/05/2010 13:36:08 I'm probably going to have to wait for level 3 missions because I can't keep up with the sheer firepower. Either I was unlucky and got a hard one as my first l3 or I'm certainly not ready.
IO drew The Spay Stash as the first one and I've never seen so many cruisers and things pop up to kill me so fast. According to EFT I can tank 255dps, and when I get to tech 2 hardeners I'll be able to tank 302 dps.
I must just suck. I'm I just not ready or is there a flaw elsewhere.
I'll look into teh autocannons or artillary, but this is where I was headed

I have two medium armor repairs II. I didn't find that the damage control II was helping. I can see the armor repair II working. If you think damage control II in replace of one of the medium armor repairs might be good idea I'll hear it. Or would replacing one of the hardeners with the damage control II be wise.

Get rid of the split ammo group. If you need to change ranges then change as needed. 2 rails firing iron aren't going to do anything. If it is just for pulling aggro you can use a civilian blaster for that and not have to pay for ammo. You don't have to actually hit the target, just fire at it.
Get T2 drones ASAP.
Use mission specific hardners rather than an omni tank. The Myrm is a very forgiving ship and one of my favorites in the game. You should be able to handle lvl3s with little problem in it.

The main reason for the split ammo group is for capacitor control and pulling. Trying to get coverage and remove deadspots.

Hello,
I think i used fit like this one in my lvl3 missions -
Myrmidon
low slot 0 = "Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II" low slot 1 = "Damage Control II" low slot 2 = "Medium Armor Repairer II" low slot 3 = "Medium Armor Repairer II" low slot 4 = "Armor Explosive Hardener II" low slot 5 = "Armor Thermic Hardener II" med slot 0 = "10MN Afterburner II" med slot 1 = "Cap Recharger II" med slot 2 = "Cap Recharger II" med slot 3 = "Cap Recharger II" med slot 4 = "Cap Recharger II" hi slot 0 = "Dread Guristas 200mm Railgun" hi slot 1 = "Dread Guristas 200mm Railgun" hi slot 2 = "Dread Guristas 200mm Railgun" hi slot 3 = "Dread Guristas 200mm Railgun" hi slot 4 = "Dread Guristas 200mm Railgun" hi slot 5 = "Dread Guristas 200mm Railgun" rig slot 0 = "Medium Capacitor Control Circuit I" rig slot 1 = "Medium Trimark Armor Pump I" rig slot 2 = "Medium Nanobot Accelerator I" drone bay = "Hammerhead II X 5" drone bay = "Hobgoblin II X 5" drone bay = "Valkyrie II X 5" drone bay = "Warrior II X 5"
U can play with drones how u want i putted them randomly but for sure use T2 ones. Also armor hardeners u replace by ur mission and its perma run fit because u will not use both armor reps all the time, second one is just for help. With this fit i never fly away from my lvl3's.

Don't do that. Split ammo groups means that you'll never reach peak efficiency. The trick is actually to dictate range rather than try to mitigate through split groups.
If you use an ammo with a shorter range, get in close. If you use one with a longer range, stay further out. It's all about piloting at that point. But don't try to cover holes.
Oh, and as for drawing aggro? You can do it even though the guns won't hit. Fire a volley and it should do the trick.

use specific hardeners... that will increase you tank quite a bit... getting bc4 and t2 hardeners should be your priority...
other than that, your fit looks decent... dont use different ammo... use AB to get in desired range...
myrmidon can put a tank for lvl4 very good tank... even with low skills you should be able to do lvl3 without much problems... and check mission guides... learn what are triggers, what dmg you should be tanking etc.. that will also help a lot... |
