Edited by: Lashnar on 10/05/2010 21:04:35 I recently ordered an Alienware M11x, it was the best cost/power compromise I could find. But I'm wondering how well EVE online will run on it.
Here are the specs:
Processor: I can't remember much about the Processor, only that it was Intel, duo core, with four way wire tech, (Something like that) and ran at 1.3 (1.73 oveclocked) GHZ.
RAM: Four gigs,
HDD: (Not important but meh) 500 Gigs,
And Nvidia 335M Gforce graphics card.
EDIT: I'm mostly worried about the processor, not much else really. Welcome to EVE. |

EVE runs quite well on mine. The UI is cramped as hell compared to playing on my desktop monitor, but I got the M11x for when I'm on the road. It does that job perfectly and runs most current games (bioshock 2, dragon age, etc.) at high settings without serious frame rate drops or overheating. Great little machine for a niche market. Hope you enjoy yours.

Hi. I have a M11x myself and it runs Eve absolutly smooth. With the Nvidia graphics card i get 60fps easily and even with the intel graphics its playable around 20fps. The screen is of course a bit small but the 1366x768 resolution is sufficent.
I have the version with the slightly stronger cpu. If needed you can overclock it to 1.7GHz but i normally leave it at its stock 1.3GHz.
I didnt test it yet in large fleet battles but until now i didnt have any problems with cpu power. U wont get much more power in such a small package from any other brand.

The company I run is a dell large enterprise reseller. Even business people buy these alienware's these days.
However, I'd probably have gone for the vostro laptops with similar spec. About the same performance but cheaper.
The Alienware M11x will run EVE just fine, smooth. Of course, you'll still get fps drops in big fleet battles and such.. but I'd prolly blame CCP more for that than your 700 to 1000eur laptop.
