As per the "intelligence" in this automated map, there have been 22 events since the announcement. You guys may consider this a rhetorical question if you wish, but how the heck do you find the time?

if u make those events in 0.0 also then ensure, that they take place in areas without ongoing warfare.
i remember a battle for a system couple of years ago when dreadnoughts were still very rare. an "event" team in dreadnoughts showed up in the system and participated in the destruction of pos of one side. the other side having itself conveniently allied itmself with the "event" team.
shady business. dont do it again.

For any of the events teams, some of us are trying to interact in return, but id like clarification on the following thread, from the viewpoint of recent events, as they've unfolded... it isnt unfounded, or unheard of... yet a potentially 'new' dev seems to be getting involved on an out-of-character level?
WTB info and a better response that is more clear? Did I miss something?

I've been wondering if the recent proposed actions against CONCORD as made by players has caught the writers by surprise, and I'm not sure if persuing an anti-CONCORD stance can result in a satisfactory experience for the players if CCP has other plans. I sense an old Dungeons and Dragons gamemaster problem coming up with that. The players want one thing, the gamemaster wants another thing. Unless I'm wrong and the writers have throught ahead on this matter. If that's the case I'll be quite impressed to be honest.

Edited by: Che Biko on 15/05/2010 20:24:31 Thank you for bringing back one of the reasons why I joined EVE. One that I found was not valid some time after I joined. But it is now.
My only regret is having missed it's return, but the feeling that anything can happen while flying around space is strengthened none the less.

I'm a little confused about who are official actors in the story and who are players who are doing this really well. Some posts of popped up over time with what are seemingly normal players who have things like scans from the wormholes that seem very legit, aswell as autopsy reports and such from slave corpses. If these are normal players, is their information somehow approved by CCP or something similar? or are they CCP actors?

Would this be in response to or as a result of reading the dynamic event system being unveiled in GuildWars 2? Any similarities/differences (kinda hard to tell from the blog at this point)?

I take these as mere hoaxes to generate attention or investors. Capsuleers don't have facilities to do autopsies, only (NPC) medical professionals have those resources. Our lab resources all pertain to blueprints, reverse engineering of hard artifacts, and our scanning abilities to those of our ships and HUDS. |

"Evaya Dennin" is an event persona, and her response should be construed as entirely in-character.
The events team will be answering outstanding questions and concerns in this thread and others in the very near future.

I like what I've seen so far, but just a bit of advice. Instead of doing one occasional huge event where eleventy billion people show up and lag the server to death ala 2005-2006 events, try and stick with smaller more impromptu stuff all over the map. It looks like you guys are doing this already so it's a good deal. _________________ [IMAGE REMOVED] -- aka Cpt Bogus -- Is that my torped sig cloaking your base?

As someone who is often hypercritical of CCP's actions, I stand corrected. This is the best thing to happen to Eve in a long while as it gives everyone, from nub to vet, a chance to get out and do some pew. Looking forward to losing some ships again.

Live Events are when CCP themselves craft a story, which works a bit like in the chronicles. Only, they then create a few characters, put them in spaceships and flesh them out on Tranquility using special Dev Hax.
For instance, say Sanshas want to steal a few slaves. The Dev running this event them opens a wormhole right over a planet somehere, say, in Hek, puts through one or three characters in Sanshas battleships and spawns a fleet of regular Sanshas rats, and starts claiming victory in local.
Since such event actors usually talk in purple text, this draws attention quickly. People then warp there and start a fight with them. This is really optional, but almost always happens.
Next, these fine people start talking about it on their alliance channels, and well the word spreads quickly, and people start rushing to Hek as fast as they can.
In about 10 minutes you'll have a flock of 300 people on the same grid trying to take a chunk out of a Sansha while not getting blown up in standard EVE fleet lag conditions.
Then it's over and someone starts writing a report over on the Intergalactic Summit forums (in character only, please).
You'll have to find a good Intel channel to find out whether such an Event has just started somewhere. A lot of people do want to participate even though the loot is usually crap, so they usually don't last long and lag starts building somewhat evil.

Well, you never want to say never, right? Thing is, there were a lot of ongoing arcs that fell silent with AURORA, and doing them justice so much later would be hard work. There's missing documentation, and the people who created these things may have wandered off, out of contact. I'm really only talking about highly specific arcs here though, the larger storylines that AURORA used to push will always continue to evolve, just as EVE itself has continued to.
Oh and it's funny you bring up Vitoc as an example, it gives me a reason to let slip that there's something pretty special in store for that particular storyline and it's approaching the final stages of production, so keep your eyes out.
Originally by: Pottsey Have you thought about timezones? Others games have the problem that unless you are in the US prime game time you miss all the events.
We've factored the issue of time zones, and accessibility in general, into our plans. I figured it better to talk about this after a few events had been run across a good spread of timezones, so that it wasn't seen as an idle promise. Going into more detail...
Timezones: We aim for events to take place across the spread of timezones where we have people available: meaning Iceland/UK and Atlanta primarily, but other offices if we can find willing participants. This first run through has allowed us to greatly fine-tune - and most importantly streamline - the way we run events. Over the long term this means more CCP'ers get involved, and that will only improve events as a whole. You guys should know that we have a horde of CCP devs chomping at the bit to help out on this, it's a testament to the passion we have for entertaining you that people from such crazily different departments and disciplines all want to dive in together and get involved.
Other ways to increase accessibility: In-game events will only reach so many people in a population that has now become so large. In order to increase awareness of events, and in a fairly humble and first-step way, increase wider (although admittedly looser) involvement in them, we're looking towards more post-event documentation and 24-hr accessible interaction. As someone involved in AURORA quite a bit myself, I personally feel that the biggest challenge back then (that was not met fully) was in documenting what happened.
That's a big part of why we're using the Intergalactic Summit (EVE's in-character forum) as part of it, and that's just one approach too, of course. The battle-tested methods of previous events are still going to see use, meaning news articles and some flashy documentation like the Ishaeka reports, whenever there's time to produce it. Collectively, we hope these and other methods will help more people feel involved, and of course get more involved.
It's worth finishing by pointing out that player created content, and player documentation has been exceptional and we can't hope to achieve the level of awesome that hundreds of players on the same wavelength can. The best content in EVE comes from players, and it always will.
