If people actually announced their fleet fights and didn't congregate in the multiple-thousands, maybe this wouldn't be needed.

It
Is
The
FLEET FINDER
All we need is an alternate "blob setting" for huge fleets, and it is fixed. Pre-dominion lag was not that bad.

Dominion caused more problems than it solved...ccp are aware of this, and now we have Tyrannis...the current sisi tyrannis build is still causing missile-effect sound and video loops, ie the missile sound/puff of smoke, still occurs after you have finished firing and does not stop until you dock. This also happened on a previous expansion (cant remember which) and took weeks to fix.

I find it funny that people would announce fleet engagements.. I sure the heck wouldn't want anyone outside to know till its already there

I want to thankyou for posting a link to a site that presents a totally sweet super computer that the average Joe(me) can't decipher for ****. Maybe a layman's term explanation of exactly how it eats and exactly where the diamonds exit the machine would help.
Also, I know it really doesn't eat anything or poop out diamonds....
Or does it

Edited by: Washell Olivaw on 12/05/2010 14:12:54 Too bad it's the software that's the problem. Current hardware is just fine.
And that thing is for crunching numbers, not running databases.

Lets just say that the CIA has like 10 of these things...Wells Fargo has at least 4.
Your high end gaming rig these days has at very most 1x 6 core processor and 8gb of system memory (ram). This thing has 192 "nodes" that has 2x 12 core processors and 64GB of ram per node.

You announce it to ccp so only ccp knows so they can reinforce the node the fight is going to happen on. But I'm sure you knew that already.

Announce it to the GM's whom we trust to keep the information secret and reinforce the node, not announce it to the general playerbase However, you might want to consider a few things, first of all; I now have one of those annoying sigs. second; you should probably move on to some more interesting things than reading this sig.

do you seriously think that lag could be solved by more processing power? it's a lot more complicated than that..

So each node is the equivalent of 4-8 high end gaming rigs x 192 nodes means it can support 768 - 1536 players. Which sounds to me that if you put this at the server end and get 2000+ players into a battle it will break. Good to know.
I think I have missed something, but I really don't care.
