So could someone explain deadspace module names to me? I see a jumble of 10+ modules for each type, and it's a bit too much for me to check on one by one. I'm looking at small armor repair systems and resistance plating(no hardeners or energized, too expensive and no hull upgrades V ). From past experience, I think A-types are better than B-types, B-types are better than C-types, etc. So is there other general rules for these things? Something that gives away how much it'll cost me compared to others, how good it is compared to others...?

There would be an awful lot to spell out to let you know all the difference between different faction deadspace gear...
Instead I'll give you a useful tip you can use all the time: in game, if you go to the variations tab there is a "compare" button at the bottom of the window. Using that, you can select the useful stats you want to compare, so you can see what is better that what in one easy list.
A couple of searches on the Contracts market from there can give you a general gist of how much they each cost, and then what the most cost-effective one will be for you.
You can also research the stats at wiki.eveonline.com, and just search for a normal module you'd like to use. (Large Shield Booster II, for example.) All the deadspace, faction, and storyline versions will be listed to the lower right.

Ah, thanks. Wonder how the compare button got by me. Got a good idea of what I want; just need to look up the prices. Although I'd want to use armor hardeners now remembering the overheat...

Basicallyà
The name consist of three parts: the faction, the size and the level: e.g. a Centus B-type Large armour repper.
The level is the easiest bit: it's just a name for the meta-level of the item: C-Type is Meta 11, B-Type is Meta 12, A-Time is Meta 13 and X-Type is Meta 14. Higher meta is better (although exactly what "better" entails varies, as we'll seeà)
The faction is what pirates will drop this kind of module in their plexes. The names correspond to what the rats themselves are often called:
Cent* = Sansha Core* = Serpentis Corp* = Blood Raiders Gist* = Angels Pith* = Guristas
The size suffix tells you what ship size the module is meant for. Generally, this follows the pattern of "-us" for battleship mods, "-um" for cruiser mods, and "-i" for frigate mods. However, to make things look/sound better, some of the pirate factions have slightly different names:
Centus (BS) / Centum (Cruiser) / Centii (Frigate) Core (BS) / Corelum (Cruiser) / Coreli (Frigate) Corpus (BS) / Corpum (Cruiser) / Corpii (Frigate) Gist (BS) / Gistum (Cruiser) / Gistii (Frigate) Pith (BS) / Pithum (Cruiser) / Pithi (Frigate)
Some items, such as hardeners, don't have different sizes, but have effectiveness categories instead, which follow a similar pattern: active hardeners use the BS name, resist amps and energized membranes use the cruiser name, and resist platings use the frigate name. So you have for instance:
Corpus A-Type Armour Explosive Hardener. Corpum A-Type Energized Reactive Membrane. Corpii A-Type Reactive Plating.
And finally, there's the matter of what the different pirate factions actually give you. Generally, for the armour stuff, all three factions actually give you same "bang for the buck" (be it repair for your cap or resist for your fitting cost), but the Core items simply give you less û lower repair amount, but proportionally lower cap draw. Higher meta simply gives you more HP repaired or higher resists. For the shield items, however, you have a different balance act: the Angel (Gist) items are easier to fit, but provide less bonus and lower cap efficiency, whereas the Gurista (Pith) items give you high effect for a low cap cost at the expense of being harder to fit. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Awwwà you're cute!
Just for you, I extended the explanation to go beyond the tanking modules. Kiss kiss. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |
