OK, I'm having a difficult time grasping the concept behind this new tyrannis planetary interaction thing.
You go to a random planet, you put command centers on it, you harvest...planet crap, which is used for...what?
What happens when all the planets in high sec are full? Can you destroy other peoples settlements from orbit without receiving concords wrath?
And somehow dust, a non-pc fps is being played into this all, in some way I don't know how...
Am I missing something or does this sound really, really lame?

I don't get it either. I'll just stick to shooting rocks in space. "Dust" doesn't interest me one bit...nor does WIS. ___________________________________________________ CSM - Bring back Medium Shader! |

I like your style, but you are making it a little too obvious :P
In the 1% chance you are being serious (doubtful), check the blogs or actually log on sisi play around a bit and work it out yourself. This is so not my main

"trouble grasping" -- understandable when it's new and not yet fully ready for release.
"used for what?" -- to make stuff. Think mining of different/new materials that are used to make stuff -- on the planets too.
"when all planets are full?" -- good question. "can we destroy?" -- not right away. Future expansion will cover that.
"somehow dust..." -- another unreleased item that will interface with this unreleased item. No wonder you don't know, nobody does but there are hints in the dev blogs.
"missing something.." -- yup. Most of us are, even those who've done a good deal of testing aren't sure about a lot of it and many are trying to predict based upon the test environment, which won't be fully completed with required skills, etc... until release so..
Welcome to the wait and see crowd. I've a hunch there are a hell of a lot of us, some looking forward to it, some not sure they like it with the vast majority going "sounds promising in some ways but I've no clue until it goes live so I'll wait and see."

Planetary Interaction is simly made to get people to the planets, so we'll have more awsome pvp videos with action near the new stunning planets. That's all marketing baby. I'm sure i'm right :P

It's all part of a greater circle yet to close. PI is part 1 of a new eco-system. People will build bases on planets, which at a later stage most likely will converted into maps, will all structures intact. Meaning converted into maps for DUST. Doing maps for over 65,000 planets is a bit much, so players will do it.
At least this is how I think it'll work out in the long run. ________________________

On the first day, people analysed planets On the second day, rumours spread of the value of items on planets On the third day, people deployed bases on the planets On the forth day, people used materials to create new items, used purely for destruction and war On the fifth day, the dust settled and war came to the planets On the sixth day, mercs from the dust were hired to take out competitors on planets On the seventh day, Black ops were buffed
I might be wrong but I see it going in this direction, where planets will slowly grown into a simcity like situation and the people in Dust will be the military I guess This is so not my main

The Fisting is prolly right. But Dust seems a lot like practice at making Encarta work right since its a console game. People don't play console games for like four years straight. It gets old faster and the console it was made for isn't played as much when the new one comes out so, all in all, it looks like a disposable game that'll come and go, maybe getting replaced by something else, maybe not depending on whether it makes real life ISKies for the CCP people.
If I were going to guess, I'd say if it comes out on current consolesN it'll be pretty shortlived since current stuff like the sexybox360 are old news now. If it doesn't make it out, it'll be hugely delayed because of all the stuff that will have to get redone for it to look and play in a kewl way on new consoles. Either way, it prolly won't compete well with mega titles on the console market and end up really obscure and soon forgotten. . Support EVE's future: Vote Cat o'Ninetails for CSM! |

I just found out the minerals from planets are currently used to make other minerals and end products are currently
PoSes Sov structures
Almost everyone I have said this too have assumed I was trolling -.- but check it out, until an hour ago I had no interest in deploying command centres, since trade goods trading wasnt all that special but the idea of making your own Starbases / Starbase Structures / Sov structure makes it very VERY attractive.
I would assume theres more to build, I am still learning the basics but I am all aboard the Tyrannis bandwagon now :)
For mission whiners, you actually have a nice way to make by that 5mil loss an hour nerf plus more now :D This is so not my main

Edited by: Chony on 17/05/2010 19:36:21 Edited by: Chony on 17/05/2010 19:35:15 Its really pretty easy, just build bases on planets then once a week hit each planet up to reset the mines and collect your loot or maybe show up and some baller duster kids wrecked your base.

Same here. I have 0 interest in Dust or Incarna. Hell, I don't even own a console platform. Well, I have an old Atari 2600 laying around.

Did you mean Incarna? Encarta is encyclopesia software.
