Quote:
* The Buddy List is now called Contacts. There is a limit of 300 contacts
* Players are able to set standing to other players, player corporations, player alliance, NPC corporations, and NPC factions. This requires that the entity is also added to your contact list.
I recently compiled then deleted 1600+ contacts so they wouldn't appear on EveGate as the privacy controls are not sufficient.
Many users have more then 300 contacts. Many have 300 in the truncating block-list alone for example.
When you do the migration I imagine you'll be looking to add contacts for standings, or simply reset everyones standings.
If contacts are being added for existing standings then what will happen when 300 is reached? Standings dropped?
It seems like much of the structure of EveGate and contacts is designed to "grow the social graph". Limited API contacts, open contacts for anyone blue, insufficient privacy control all seem to be choices made to increase connections. Some of these choices are not very much liked and some go against how users actually manage their contacts in Eve.
When combined with the 300 limit these hard to swallow pills lose their benefit and no gain is made on the social graph.
Might be a good time to rethink this a bit.
