Hi,
I'm just curious, is there an average as to the amount of SP people get per year? I was just wondering since I seem to be getting 15m SP/year, while some people seem to be getting closer to 17/18m SP per year.

2541 * 24 hours * 365 days = 22M sp per year. Lets here it for remap \0/

I have no clue what my average per year is since I haven't been playing a full year.
That said, I can see why some people get higher averages. Do you have all learning and advance learning skills to 5? Do you have +5 implants? Have you remapped you stats to speed up your training in a specific area?
So honestly, no surprise that there is a huge gap between the average skill points per year.

What's your average?
Around 20 mil. It depends on whether you train skills with primary attributes being the one you ravamped for, your learning skills, and what implants you have. I use +5 learning implant set and have all learning skills trained to lvl5. It's a good investment over the long term. Also, plan ahead so you mostly only train skills that match your revamp.

Over the next year and with the current skill planà 24M.
Average so far, though, is a mere 18.5M. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

as people said, max is 24mil. if you are getting less than 16mil, you should probably reconsider your training plan, bump up your learning and/or plug in higher implants. 18-20mil is good average, if one can't focus train or afford implant replacements. ________________________________ : Forum Bore 'Em : Foamy The Squirrel |

With the 8/8/8/8/7 default attributes, +3 implants and 4/3 learnings, that's around 15 mil SP/year, and that's pretty much as low as you could reasonably be at without instantly thinking "what the bloody hell did I do wrong" if you're more than a few months old in the game.
With a balanced-ish 12/12/5/5/5 per/int attributes, +4 implants and 4/4 learnings, sticking only to per/int main skills (in other words, most of the combat ones), that's well over 18 mil SP/year, and that's quite reasonable for most people, but not something to get too excited about.
Me, personally, I'm at an almost steady 20.8 mil SP/year (as long as I stay away from charisma-based skills, anything else is just peachy), and I'm reasonably content, since I don't have to pine about remaps and skillplans. Could be better, but I'm in no particular hurry to get any specific skills, so it's ok enough for me.
With a maxed-out 15/9/5/5/5 attribute set and a very focused skillplan (only skills with that particular attribute pair - easy enough if you're doing only ship/weapon training or only electronics/engineering/science/mechanic), on top of +5 implants and 5/5 learnings, that's over 24 mil SP/year (2772 SP/hour), and that's the best you can possibly get.

Is there something wrong with me in that I could really care less about how fast I am actually training? Am I wrong in feeling no dissatisfaction or malcontent in knowing that training X skill is going to take me a whole 3 days extra because I have not optimized my remaps? Does it reflect poorly on me that I have 'lost' probably a couple months worth of skillpoints over the years due to this attitude? Am I 'losing' at EVE because other people who started before me have more skillpoints? Does my armageddon do less DPS because it took me a couple weeks longer to get all the pertinent skills to 5 than that guy who has all his attributes perfectly set up? Am I a bad person for thinking that the whole obsession with spending hours tweaking a skill plan to fit ones current attribute map in order to save a few minutes here and there is a pointless waste of time? Should I just end this post right here and forget about it? <-------------------------------------------------> "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." -Albert Einstein |

Add me to your mindset. An effective Titan pilot will have 30 mill SP. It goes down from there in terms of what you need to be an effective pilot in any given ship or role.
EvE is an asset war. You can have 300 mill SP, if you are in a Domi you cant replace you are as good as useless. |

I am with you. If I was worried about max SP/year I would not still be subbed. I would bet I fall below the 15 mill SP/year considering it is not atypical for me to miss more then a few days of training here and there

I'm on target for over 10 Million SP in the first 5 months and ending the first full year with a little over 24 Million SP.
I do however have a goal in mind for this char, just wanted to find out how many SP was possible in a year from new.

Blech. I've averaged about 13.5 mil a year, although a lot of that had to do with my prevailing ignorance of learning skills and implants early on in the game, plus a long stretch of not training anything for some reason. I've probably added at least 20 mil in the last 12 months.

That seems a little unusual. At max 2772 sp/h, you can get max 24,282,720 SP per year. So, for you first full year it's actually quite impossible to get "a little over 24 Million SP," as that means you would have to have started training at 2772 sp/h; which, of course, can't be done. So, I think you need to redo your math. :)
Also, training at 2772 sp/h for a first year is highly unusual regardless, as you're simply not in a position yet to focus just one set of attributes excusively. You first need learning skills, cybernetics to lv V, support skills, a few ship skills, etc. So, a 'good' (ahem) first year plan will likely slightly favor int + mem (or mem + int), and be half-way decent for perc + will. For example, soon I'll be going into my second year; and it's only that I will be training at max 2772 sp/h for the whole year, as I got all support and learning skills out of the way in the first year, and can now concentrate fully on perc + will for the next two years or so.

Remember, you get double training speed until a skill would go over 1.6 mil SP when finished. (...but you used to get double training speed as long as the currently training skill was started under 1.6 mil SP... so if you were to, say, start cybernetics 5 when you had 1,599,999 SP, it would still train at double speed if you didn't pause it. You can't do that anymore, it was only for a brief, but highly abused period).
If you use those first SP (1.6 mil max nowadays) almost exclusively on learnings and cybernetics, combined with a clever remap schedule and skillplan, (and let's not forget the almost mandatory assist in ISK and/or implants and skillbooks so you waste no time) it could at least theoretically get pretty close to those 24 mil total by the end of the first year.

I kind of screwed up both my remaps (using that while not knowing what it exactly does, being 4 weeks old is FAIL!) So I ended up with a bit over 15 mil SP.

Second edit: Added another 2772 skill for the 5th, updated the stats.
Okay, apparently it CAN be done, after all, with the now sealed-off extra long double-speed training trick. My bad. I stand corrected.
Damn, wish I could have abused that trick myself. :P

Nope, she did it without that "trick", that was sealed long enough ago so the linked character couldn't possibly taken advantage of it. She trained Cybernetics 5 at normal speed, but she didn't waste any of the double-speed training time either. If that "trick" would have been in place, breaking 24 mil by the end of the first year would be even easier.

Same as this. Thanks to not really caring about efficiency and quitting for extended periods, my average SP/year since I started is less than 7.5M. Currently I train at somewhere between 13M and 15M a year depending on skill, because I've never taken the time to remap and my implants got blowed up the other day. -

While my current value might be 20.8 SP/year on the vast majority of skills, my "lifetime average" for the entire 4.2 years so far is barely 17.4 mil SP/year... thanks to neglecting learnings (you needed L5 basic to get L1 advanced back then, and I only trained L5 advanceds a couple of months ago), too-expensive-for-me implants (I was using at most +3s the first year, and only got +5s around two years ago) and last but not least having no skill training (I probably lost a grand total of at least 3 months if not 4, when you put all the times together).
