Carrier/Mom/BC/BS/T3/whatever. Tell me what you think it is and why.
So far my best has been a Tengu but the DPS sucks. =\ I want to be able to instapop the BS. Cool part is I can sit still and they cant even make 1% dmg to my shields. Even in anomolys.

I'm experimenting with HAM Tengu, it is very impressive. 800 dps, 1300 MWD speed, easily sustainable tank. High agility for quick getaways from gankers, optional cloak.
After ratting in 0.0 in battleships for years, it's an amazing difference. It can clear cruiser spawn before the NPCs even start firing back.
Anyway, that's what I'm using now

I might get flamed for this, but for survivability, you can't beat the dominix (as long as you salvage).
1x salvager, 1x tractor, 3x neut, 1x drone link 3x cap rechargers, 1x AB, 1x warp disruptor. 1x LAR, 1x 1600mm plate, 3x active hardeners (expl, kin, therm), 1x EANM, 1x CPR 2x CCC, 1x ANP
There is enough drone bay to fit a set of heavies for whatever rats you need to kill, mediums and smalls as well, but also a full set of heavy ECM drones for escaping any lone wolf ratter hunters. In addition to this, you can neut their tackling gear if need be. Or, if you feel you can take them, surprise them with a disruptor and keep in range long enough with the AB. A single LAR with the omni-tank can fend off a triple Sansha BS spawn, so I assume it will work almost anywhere.
I know some of you might argue in favor of HACs or T3s, but if you want to salvage and loot your wrecks as you rat you need a larger cargo hold. ==================== ~/~ Sultan of Buruni |

I second this, although I prefer the Cerberus, as it is more mobile. Performance is comparable, but the Cerb is of course much more expensive.

Drake is the cost effective method, its cheap, strong, nice range, sort out belt warpins and youre set.

Edited by: BeanBagKing on 21/05/2010 05:03:12 Domi IMO. One of the cheaper BS's out there, sentry drones give you 500 DPS without wasting ammo. You can pretty easily get another 1-200 with guns even with low skills, and a tank that lets you just fall asleep (though you probably shouldn't unless you're in high sec).

This works but a geddon will do just as well. I had no problem with a Geddon and Megapulse II, Navy clears, standards and resists for the rat you fight. It will get jammed 90% of the time if you get caught in a PvP anyway so dont try to resist fit for PvP.
Domi is a good investment if you prefer the Drones but you will lose them if someone jumps in and you need to scramble. |

-- Add On: 4 bookmarked Safespots if you dont have a POS in sys. Look at where they are pointing. So you can do jumps to bookmark from bookmark as quick as possible. (try not to be turning full 180 to get to the next bookmark)
Understand that if you see hostility enter the system, they will be back. In and out means they will return. Warp out of the belt as soon as they enter sys. Not 5 seconds later, not 10 seconds later. They will scan you down. If it isnt blue? Its hostile. When a hostile forst enters, do a full run of your bookmarks. If they havent returned, head to a belt and resume. You will survive alot longer. Even this will not keep you alive forever. Alliance owned space? Bring friends and use the Drake mentioned. Or whatever else you prefer.
or you could just fit a cloak....

Since when you come out of warp at the safespot you have almost no velocity, aligning to a spot 180 degrees behind you takes *exactly* the same time as warping to a spot directly in front of you.

Anyone ever try a vaga for Sansha ratting? I use one and the toughest spawns barely scratch the shields (once you pop the cruisers you take nearly no damage). It's also agile and can double as a surprise for the would-be roamer. By the way, this is my signature.

An old faithful raven is good and cheap. T3's are nice for the harder anamolies, and so are carriers. Carriers it just > push rep button > release fighters > go make sandwich.

Confirming that ratting or plexing with a vagabond and a scimitar alt is probably the safest, most prepared way to NPC in 0.0. 500dps, tackle, and a microwarpdrive. No need to carry cap boosters, or anything but ammo.
Vagabond can murder any standard belt spawn. For anomalies that have some heavy dps, you can have a cloaked scimitar handy for needed reps. Standard Nano vaga pvp fit works excellent. Orbit 5000m, and shoot, rinse/repeat. Damage types are configurable for all NPC types since it's Minmatar.
Neut/Red in local, Vagabond warps away before they can even get probes positioned. Optional high slot for cloak. If you've got some balls you just engage the enemy on site. Decloak your scimitar alt and profit.
Cons: uses a lot of ammo, 10k rounds per 50mil isk on and average |

With ratting in 0.0 the Raven is better than the Drake, quicker kills for a start. I made far more isk ratting in a Raven compared to when I was ratting in a Drake whilst in 0.0.
Edit: There were no t3 ships then so no idea how they compare.

Ishtar - Best ratting ship tbh
1. Ammo free DPS 2. Space for salvager / tractor beams 3. Fast and agile 4. Can be setup to passive shield tank with nice defence 5. Looks better than a drake / raven
Personally any drone ship wins here, I would avoid a domi too slow.

Too slow for what? They kill quicker and you can make far more isk with them if you're in a fairly quiet system.
Never lost a Raven to enemy ships whilst ratting, but always keep an eye on intel and local.

Domi is good as you can salvage as you rat (no guns required). Myrm will do nicely as well if you've got decent skills (bit faster, bit less dps).

Could the raven ratters give me a good fit? I understand that type of rat will dictate what hardeners i should use, just want to get some ideas.
